I don't know how else to start this except with those two words — because they're the truest ones I have right now.
Thank you to every single person who showed up for Carol. Who hired me. Who donated. Who shared the post when you couldn't give. Who sent a message asking how she was doing. You helped us get the surgery done, and I will never forget that.
Carol had the Excision Port Sinus Procedure.
She made it through. She's recovering. But here's the part I didn't want to have to write: the infection hasn't gone away yet.
We're still doing follow-up visits. Still managing pain. Still draining fluid. Still watching for signs that her body is finally, fully healing. The doctors say this is normal — that sometimes the body needs more time. But "normal" doesn't make it easier when you're the one lying in bed leaking pus, or when you're the sister watching someone you love fight this hard for this long.
Carol has been defying medical predictions her entire life. She wasn't supposed to make it past five. She did. She survived a hysterectomy that saved her life. She survived the complications. And she's surviving this.
But we're not out of the woods yet.
So I'm asking again — this time for the follow-up care.
