Police are investigating a sad incident where two children died while 14 others, who include seven adults and four children, are critically ill after attending a traditional beer ceremony.
The incident occured in Mashava area, Masvingo on October, 27.
In a statement, police national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“The families ate Sadza and drank mahewu at the traditional ritual ceremony.
“Suddenly, the children and adults fell ill with stomach pains resulting in the death of two minors aged three and seven years.
“Four children and seven adults are currently in critical condition at Masvingo General Hospital while three others are receiving treatment at Mashava Clinic.”

A Harare chicken farmer is counting her losses after being duped of 250 chickens worth US$1,500 by two men who paid her with a single US$20 note and a stack of worthless old Zimbabwe dollar bills.
Lucia Nyamayaro said she was contacted by a “customer” using mobile numbers 0787393755 and 0788682398 after advertising dressed chickens on Facebook.
The matter was reported to Avondale Police Station, under crime reference number RRB 6484751.
“The buyer ordered 250 birds for US$1,500, and a meeting was set for 6 AM today at Strathaven shops, where the customer purported to own a butchery.
“The man I had been talking to didn’t show up, but two other guys arrived in a Toyota Hilux, registration AFT 7625, saying they worked for him.”
“They handed me a bunch of cash in US$10 and US$20 notes. I counted and confirmed it was US$1,500.
“They then said they needed to fetch the keys to the butchery from their boss’s house nearby and couldn’t leave both the money and the chickens with me.”
She returned the cash, only for the pair to suggest taking the chickens after all.
“We began loading the chickens into their vehicle.
“When we were almost done, one of them handed me what I thought was the same bundle of cash.
“They then jumped into their vehicle and sped off,” he said.
When she checked the money, she discovered it was a single US$20 note wrapped around a pile of obsolete Zimbabwe dollar notes.
“I could cry. I went through so much to raise these chickens for this order, and to lose all that money like this is heartbreaking,” she said.

ZACC Investigating Officer in Mpofu case, Chimombe, dies before judgment
A Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) investigating officer, Henry Chapwanya, who was instrumental in the investigation of the fraud case involving businessmen Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe, tragically died just days before the delivery of the judgment.
Chapwanya, known for his work on several fraud cases, left a legacy that is beyond imagination.
Sadly, he was involved in an accident and was buried last Tuesday, a day before Justice Pisirayi Kwenda delivered a judgment that convicted the duo.
He is survived by a wife and a six-month-old baby.
Chapwanya was laid to rest on Tuesday in Gutu.
Mpofu and Chimombe were convicted on Wednesday of defrauding the government of US$7 million in an US$87 million Presidential Goats Scheme tender.
The pair, appearing before Justice Pisirayi Kwenda, had entered “not guilty” pleas.
They now await sentencing on October 31.
Mpofu denied the allegations, insisting that the dispute was a civil matter and that the state erred in charging him in his personal capacity instead of through their company, Blackdeck.
The two have been in remand prison for over a year since their arrest in June of last year.
They are scheduled to return to court on October 31 for the sentencing hearing.

Breaking: Killer cop arrested
The suspected robber who shot dead a Kadoma based police officer who was on duty while recording a statement has been apprehended.
Reports are that he was wanted in the murder case of businessman Joseph Mutangadura.

The deceased cop, is a victim of revenge by the killer, according to sources.

The incident occured at around 3 am today.

Police are yet to confirm the case.
