Without a pay structure, every compensation conversation is a one-off negotiation. The employees who push hardest at hire earn more than equally capable colleagues who did not push as hard. Over time that quiet accumulation of negotiation advantages becomes a pay equity problem. And when an employee asks why they earn what they do, you have no clean answer to give them.
A pay structure changes that. It gives every role a grade, every grade a minimum, midpoint, and maximum, and every compensation decision a defensible reference point.
Our free Pay Structure Calculator builds salary grades with range spreads and grade progressions in minutes, with no spreadsheet formulas to write. Enter your grade 1 midpoint, your range spread, and your progression percentage. The calculator builds the rest across your entire grade ladder.
Built for Human Resources business partners, compensation analysts, and rewards leaders designing or auditing salary bands. Free, no sign up, runs in your browser.

A resume is a record of what you have done. A cover letter is an explanation of why you are applying for this specific role at this specific company. Those are two different documents doing two different jobs.
The problem is that most cover letters try to do the resume's job. They list the same experience in the same order with the same language. The reader already has the resume. The cover letter just restated it.
A cover letter that works carries the context the resume cannot. Why this company. Why this role right now. What the connection is between where you have been and where you are applying. That kind of letter is genuinely hard to write from scratch, especially across multiple applications.
Our free Artificial Intelligence Cover Letter Generator writes it in seconds. Paste your CV and the job advert. It generates a tailored letter with each paragraph mapped to a specific requirement from the posting. Your story, their language.

Psychiatric nursing is one of the most demanding clinical environments there is. De escalation under pressure. Safety monitoring for patients in acute crisis. Therapeutic relationships built in the middle of chaos. Most psychiatric nurses carry more clinical complexity in a single shift than many other specialties see in a week.
Then the resume says "provided psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient setting."
The clinical manager reading it has no idea what your unit looked like, how many patients you managed, what your safety outcomes were, or which populations you know well. All of that stays invisible until the resume is rewritten to show it.
New evidence based guide. Full resume example inside for a board certified psychiatric mental health registered nurse with 5 years of experience, the certifications that move callbacks, the electronic health record systems to name, and salary data above $86,000 with shift differentials on top.

Most people spend the first two hours of writing a resume doing something that has almost no effect on whether they get an interview. They adjust margins, compare fonts, move sections around, and try to make it look impressive. Then they run out of time and write weak bullet points in a hurry.
The design is not the problem. The content is the problem. And no amount of font adjusting fixes a bullet that says "managed projects and worked with teams."
Start with a free template from our library, organised by role so the structure already fits the job, and spend your time on the part that actually determines the outcome. The words.

Your resume walks into the room before you do. It sits in front of a recruiter for 6 seconds, gets scored by an applicant tracking system it may never have been formatted for, and makes a first impression you have no control over once it leaves your hands.
Most people send it out and hope. They never find out whether it was the formatting, the missing keywords, the vague bullet points, or the summary nobody read. The market gets the blame. The resume was the problem.
Our free Artificial Intelligence Resume Reviewer scores your resume across six dimensions and tells you exactly what a recruiter and an applicant tracking system will find when they open it. Weak lines flagged. Missing keywords identified. Rewrite suggestions included. Priority action plan at the end.
Before you send another application, run it through here first.

Upload your resume and get an instant, recruiter-grade review. AI scores content, ATS compatibility, skills match, and more — with rewrite suggestions and a priority action plan.

Your organisation probably has a generational program somewhere. Managing across generations. Engaging Millennials. Preparing for Generation Z. It feels current and generates good discussion.
The research says most of it is built on a foundation that does not hold.
A 2025 meta-analysis, the most comprehensive test to date, found few systematic, meaningful differences among generations across a range of work outcomes. An earlier pooled study of nearly 20,000 people found that meaningful generational differences probably do not exist on job satisfaction, commitment, or intention to quit. The most famous claim of all, that younger generations are growing more narcissistic, did not survive a global dataset of more than 546,000 people across 55 countries. Scores actually drifted slightly downward over time.
What managers are observing at work is mostly age and life stage, not birth cohort. Young workers have always moved jobs more. People have always grown more interested in meaning and security as they aged. These are developmental patterns, not generational ones.
New evidence based article. What the research can and cannot support, and what it means for how you lead and invest in your people.

You applied to the role. You have the experience. Your CV even mentions the right things, just not in the right words.
The posting said "stakeholder management." Your CV says "worked with cross functional teams." To you they mean the same thing. To the applicant tracking system scoring your application, they do not match. Your score drops and you get filtered before a human ever sees you.
The fix is tailoring. Rewrite your CV to use the vocabulary the posting actually uses, not a synonym you think is close enough.
Our free Artificial Intelligence CV Tailor does that in 60 seconds. Upload your CV and the job description. It rewrites every bullet to match the posting's exact terminology while keeping every job, date, and achievement from your real experience. Nothing is invented. Only the emphasis and phrasing shift.

An occupational therapist working in inpatient stroke rehabilitation and one working in a pediatric school program have almost nothing in common in their day to day work. Different populations, different assessments, different productivity expectations, different documentation systems.
Most occupational therapy resumes describe neither. They list evaluated, treated, and documented. The rehabilitation manager reading it already knows these tasks. What the manager needs in the first 200 words is which setting you have practiced in, what your caseload looked like, and what changed for patients because of your work.
"Treated patients" tells them nothing. "Treated 11 patients per day on a 24 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit specializing in stroke and orthopedic recovery, with average functional independence measure gains of 18 points per discharged stroke patient" tells them everything.
New evidence based guide. Full resume example inside, the certifications that move callbacks, the electronic health record systems to name, salary data above $96,000, and the format clinical hiring managers actually read.

The resume template you downloaded from Canva or Pinterest probably looks great. Two columns, design accents, icons next to your contact details. It will also fail most applicant tracking systems before a recruiter ever reads it.
Applicant tracking systems cannot parse columns, graphics, or image based text. They read a single column of plain text from top to bottom. A template that looks polished on screen often strips into scrambled text when a system processes it, and the application is rejected silently before any human sees it.
Our free resume templates are built for both audiences. Clean enough to pass applicant tracking system parsing, structured enough to hold a recruiter through the 7.4 second scan, and organised by role so you start from a template that already fits the job you are applying for.
Hundreds of templates. Free to download in Word and PDF. No sign up.
