Waterfalls Adventist High School Shares Hope with the Community

More than 400 copies of the Adventist Church's 2026 Book of the Year, Words of Hope, were distributed in the Waterfalls community on Sabbath, 11 July 2026, as students and staff from Waterfalls Adventist High School took part in a community outreach programme aimed at sharing the message of hope and salvation.

The initiative was attended by Zimbabwe East Union Conference Publishing Director, Ps. Issac Mashinya, who commended the school for embracing the publishing ministry. He reminded participants that the Adventist Church was established through the power of the printed page and affirmed that the publishing ministry remains central to completing the work of evangelism.

School Mission Director, Ps. Edward Musara, described the distribution of Words of Hope as a powerful symbol of the church's responsibility to share Christ-centred hope with a world facing many challenges. He emphasized that true hope is found in Jesus Christ.

Speaking to students and congregants, Ps. Leon Chiroodza encouraged believers to remain committed to sharing the gospel, saying that taking the message of salvation to the world is among the greatest responsibilities entrusted to God's people.

Waterfalls Adventist High School Headmaster, Mr. Tendere, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in mission work, highlighting the school's commitment to nurturing students who excel not only academically but also spiritually. He said the institution seeks to be a mission centre that positively impacts communities through service and witness.

The outreach programme demonstrated the school's dedication to spreading hope and strengthening community engagement through practical evangelism.

Mission Express visited Northridge Park in Harare, where Ruya Adventist High School's Upper Six Class of 2026 gathered for a transformative Career Guidance Programme. Bringing together church leaders, education partners, professionals and former students, the event challenged learners to view their future professions as platforms for service, leadership and Christian witness.

From medicine and law to accounting, technology and artificial intelligence, students received practical guidance while being reminded that true success is measured not only by professional achievement but also by faithfulness to God.

EDUBRIDGE INITIATIVE

In a powerful demonstration of Christian compassion, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) South Africa, working alongside the Reality 7 Foundation, recently conducted a needs assessment among displaced Zimbabwean nationals in Cape Town, South Africa.

As cold and rainy weather continues to worsen living conditions, many vulnerable families—including mothers with newborn babies and young children—are facing significant challenges and are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

ADRA South Africa has provided essential relief items such as blankets and baby supplies, while also assisting with transportation for migrants travelling to Musina.

The response was further strengthened by Pastor Laing, Youth Director of the Cape Conference Western Region, who mobilised Seventh-day Adventist young people to assist ADRA staff with beneficiary data collection, helping ensure an organised and effective outreach effort.

ADRA continues to work closely with community leaders and government officials to ensure affected families receive the care, dignity, and support they deserve.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2

Ellen G. White reminds us: “Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good.”

As the church continues to be the hands and feet of Jesus, this initiative stands as a testament to faith in action and hope in difficult circumstances.

The Zimbabwe East Union Conference (ZEUC) recently hosted its Health and Temperance Congress at Highlands Seventh-day Adventist Church under the theme “Whole and Wholly.”

The event brought together members from the Union's two conferences for a day focused on health, wellness, and spiritual growth. Participants also attended a vibrant business exhibition and a community Health Expo, made possible through a partnership between the University of Zimbabwe SDA Association Health Department and the Zimbabwe East Union Conference Health Department.

Delivering the devotional message, ZEUC Health Director Dr. Mapondera encouraged believers to demonstrate Christ-like love through kindness and compassion in their daily interactions.

One of the major highlights of the programme was a public march from Highlands SDA Church to Highland Park Mall, where members invited the surrounding community to participate in the Health Expo and access free health services and information.

🏆 NYAHUNI ADVENTIST HIGH SCHOOL ATTAINS PRESTIGIOUS GRADE A INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION

Nyahuni Adventist High School has added a remarkable chapter to its history after being officially awarded a five-year Grade A Accreditation, a globally recognized status that affirms the institution's commitment to excellence in Adventist Christian education.

The accreditation ceremony, held on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, marked a significant milestone not only for the school but also for the wider Adventist education system. The event was graced by the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID) Director of Education, Dr Felix Njini, whose presence underscored the importance of the achievement within the Adventist educational network.

With this recognition, Nyahuni Adventist High School becomes only the seventh institution among the 506 primary and secondary schools across the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division territory to attain this prestigious status.

The five-year accreditation follows a rigorous evaluation process that assessed the school's academic standards, spiritual environment, leadership, governance, infrastructure, and commitment to holistic learner development. The accreditation will be accompanied by periodic reviews aimed at ensuring continuous growth and sustained excellence.

School leaders, staff members, students, parents, and stakeholders celebrated the achievement as a testament to years of dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to providing quality, Christ-centered education.

Ellen G. White aptly reminds us of the purpose of true education:

"True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man." — Education, p. 13

🏆 RUYA ADVENTIST HIGH SCHOOL SCOOPS PRESTIGIOUS SECRETARY'S MERIT AWARD

Ruya Adventist High School has once again etched its name into Zimbabwe's educational history after being crowned a recipient of the prestigious Secretary's Merit Award, a recognition reserved for institutions that demonstrate exceptional excellence in education, innovation, leadership and community transformation.

The award ceremony, held at Ruya Adventist High School on Friday, June 26, 2026, celebrated the school's remarkable contribution to the advancement of God's mission through Christian education, child guidance, character formation and academic excellence.

The event was graced by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Moses Mhike, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, alongside Chief Kandeya, Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland Central Cde Timothy Maregere, Acting Chief Director for Provincial Education Systems Dr. Mangwiro, senior government officials, education directors, school inspectors, teacher union representatives, local authorities and church leaders.

Representing the Seventh-day Adventist Church were Zimbabwe East Union Conference, Education director, Pastor Dennis Munaiwa, North Zimbabwe Conference President Pastor Trustmore Parangeta, Executive Secretary Pastor Hopewell Mandina, Chief Finance Officer Elder Hlatswayo, among other church leaders and dignitaries.

The award marks a historic return to the summit of educational excellence for Ruya Adventist High School, which last received the honour in the year 2000.

Receiving the award, School Head Mr. Gilbert Dzveta attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of learners, teachers, parents, church leadership, education authorities, alumni and the wider community.

"Our achievement was not accidental. It was a combination of deliberate planning, effective leadership, committed teaching, disciplined learning and strong partnerships among all stakeholders," he said.

Mr. Dzveta highlighted the school's exceptional 2025 Advanced Level results, where all 62 candidates attained at least 10 points, while more than half scored 15 points and above — a rare feat in Zimbabwe's education sector.

As part of the award package, Ruya Adventist High School received the Secretary's Bell Plaque, four laptops, a tablet device, two Starlink internet kits, a robotics kit, a smart digital podium, three solar systems, a printer, textbooks from leading publishers, 50kg of rice and a US$1,000 scholarship fund benefiting two Form Three learners, Edith Dengedza and Privilege Gunhe.

In his keynote address, Mr. Mhike commended church-run schools for their outstanding contribution to national development and described Ruya Adventist High School as one of Zimbabwe's strongest-performing secondary schools.

He particularly praised the school's holistic approach to education and community service, including construction of houses for vulnerable families, support for hospitals and clinics, orphanages and neighbouring schools.

Most notably, the Permanent Secretary hailed the Adventist philosophy of educating the Head, Heart and Hand, describing it as a model capable of transforming the nation.

«"All the learners that I interacted with were mentioning the Three Hs: the education of the Head, the Heart and the Hand. I wish all schools throughout the country could emulate this philosophy. That way, even social vices such as drug abuse would not be prevalent."»

Indeed, the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy of education remains one of the most powerful models for developing balanced citizens. By nurturing intellectual excellence (Head), Christ-like character (Heart) and practical skills for service (Hand), Adventist education seeks not merely to prepare learners for examinations, but for useful citizenship on earth and eternal life with Christ.

The success of Ruya Adventist High School stands as living testimony to the effectiveness of this holistic educational approach. If widely embraced by educational authorities and institutions across the nation, the philosophy has the potential to produce generations of competent, ethical, innovative and service-oriented citizens capable of transforming Zimbabwe and beyond.
