| Tsitsi Dangarembga, an acclaimed novelist, filmmaker, and cultural activist, is being awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters (DLitt) (honoris causa) by Rhodes University.

This prestigious recognition celebrates her immense contributions to African literature, cinema, and advocacy for social justice, gender equality, and freedom of expression.

As a fearless storyteller and an advocate for African narratives, Dangarembga’s influence extends across literary, cinematic, and academic spheres.

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to raise awareness about gender-based violence. It also kicks off the 16 days campaign. We can commemorate the day by wearing purple Embassy of Canada to Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Botswana

As the Global 16 Days Campaign is approaching we are thankful to Embassy of Canada to Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Botswana for the support through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives which will allow us to once again hold an outreach in the Zambezi Valley during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence where we will continue to reach out to the communities for advocacy and learning on VAWG
