:Veteran musician Thomas Mapfumo has confirmed in a video that he will return to Zimbabwe to perform at businessman Wicknell Chivayo's birthday and musician Jah Prayzah's wedding, after accepting a US$1. 5 million deal.
In the video posted by Sir Wicknell , Mapfumo said: "I am coming to Zimbabwe, I am coming again to play at Wicknell's birthday and at Jah Prayzah's wedding. Jah Prayzah is a child to me. We are coming, the birthday is work we have been given, we are not going to do other things, it's work we are doing, get ready."
Sir Wicknell , who posted the video with the caption "Baba we marudzi havaba Defeat ," said he will pay US$500,000 per show, making Mapfumo the highest-paid singer in Zimbabwe's history.
He described the agreement as a way to thank the 80-year-old Chimurenga music icon for his contribution to the country's arts and liberation struggle, adding that the decision was made consciously and independently by Mapfumo.
