Seven learners are feared dead after a commuter omnibus carrying 24 pupils from Matongo Primary School caught fire in Senga suburb, Gweru, this Wednesday afternoon. Preliminary police investigations suggest a fuel container inside the vehicle may have ignited after coming into contact with batteries, triggering a blaze that trapped some of the children. Seventeen learners were reportedly rescued and taken for medical treatment as investigations continue.

MANAGER AKANDIROVA MUSHURE MEKUNGE NDABVUNZA MARI YANGU;CUSTOMER RAISES CONCERNS OVER ALLEGED ECOCASH DISPUTE AT LATITUDE RESTAURANT

A disgruntled customer has approached Naro5 Metro alleging poor customer service and the mishandling of an EcoCash payment dispute at Latitude Restaurant. According to the complainant, an EcoCash transfer made last Friday was deducted from his account despite him subsequently settling the bill in cash. The customer claims he returned to the restaurant seeking assistance and provided transaction confirmations and approval codes to support his case. “I sent them money from my EcoCash and it was deducted. On Friday I paid cash, so when I went back I asked for my money,” the complainant told Marondera Metro.

The complainant further alleged that attempts to resolve the issue were unsuccessful and that a disagreement later arose with the restaurant manager. “I even gave them the confirmation and approval codes so they could track the transaction with Econet, but they did not do that,” he said. The customer further claimed that during the altercation he was pushed from a steel ladder. These allegations are solely those of the complainant and have not been independently verified. Latitude Restaurant had not responded to the claims at the time of publication.
