๐Ÿšจ MUTARE POLICE TAKE TO THE SKIES! ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

As schools reopen, ZRP Manicaland has launched a major back-to-school safety campaign โ€” but this time, the police are bringing technology into the fight.

๐Ÿš DRONES ARE NOW IN MUTARE!

Police say drones will be used to monitor illegal activities, including illegal mining and touting, as part of a new Smart Policing approach.

At the same time, police are deploying breathalysers to catch drunk drivers and warning motorists against speeding and overloading.

Parents have been urged to:

โŒ Avoid mushikashika
โœ… Use registered public transport
๐Ÿšซ Challenge drivers who speed or overload
๐Ÿ“ž Report dangerous driving to the police

ZRP Manicaland Acting Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the new measures.

The campaign was conducted in Mutare CBD and Sakubva Terminus, with Officer Commanding Manicaland Province Commissioner Charles Nhete also present.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ MUTARE, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU

What is the biggest road-safety problem you see on Mutareโ€™s roads?

๐Ÿ‘‡ Comment with the specific problem and the area where you see it most.

For example:

๐Ÿ“ โ€œOverloading is common at Sakubva Terminus.โ€
๐Ÿ“ โ€œMushikashika drivers speed along [road/area].โ€
๐Ÿ“ โ€œDrivers are often drunk around [area].โ€
๐Ÿ“ โ€œTouting is a serious problem at [location].โ€

Have you or your child ever been put at risk by a speeding, overloaded or reckless public transport vehicle? Tell us what happened.

Your experience could help highlight the areas where greater enforcement is needed.

โš ๏ธ Please do not post anyoneโ€™s private information or make unverified accusations.

๐Ÿ“ฒ Share this post with parents, students and commuters in Mutare.

From breathalysers on the roads to drones in the skies, Manicaland police say the era of Smart Policing has arrived. The question is: Will it make Mutare safer?

๐Ÿ‘‡ Tell us what you think โ€” and where police should focus first.

๐Ÿšจ LITHIUM SMUGGLING BOMBSHELL: OREQUEST FINANCE DIRECTOR ARRESTED!

690 TONNES OF RAW LITHIUM ALLEGEDLY SMUGGLED OUT OF ZIMBABWE

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Orequest (Pvt) Ltd Finance Director MinMin Song in connection with a major alleged lithium smuggling syndicate operating between Ruwa and Forbes Border Post.

Investigators allege the syndicate used fraudulent Bikita Minerals documents to move raw lithium across the border.

๐Ÿ’ฅ 23 trucks allegedly crossed Forbes Border Post carrying about 690 tonnes of lithium ore.

But investigators say the operation did not end there.

A further 420 tonnes of lithium ore was intercepted or recovered โ€” including 60 tonnes from three intercepted trucks, 300 tonnes at the Ruwa plot and another 60 tonnes from abandoned containers at Lochinvar in Harare.

Two trucks allegedly reached the Port of Beira in Mozambique, while three others were intercepted after presenting allegedly fraudulent export documents.

Song joins Shuvai Muza and Charlene Chivandire, who were arrested last month and are already on remand.

Several other alleged members, including Ning Yaokun, Andy and Malvern, remain at large.

โš ๏ธ The value of the smuggled and recovered lithium is yet to be established by the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development.

Song is expected in court today, Saturday, September 5.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ผ Zimbabwe has banned the export of raw minerals and lithium concentrates as government pushes for local beneficiation and value addition.

A massive lithium trail. Fake documents. Dozens of trucks. And millions potentially at stake.

๐Ÿ‘‡ What do you make of the alleged smuggling operation?

๐Ÿšจ THE BROOMS ARE OUT! NETONE SWEEPS ACROSS FOUR CITIES

The brooms were out. The litter was cleared. And NetOne took its clean-up message beyond Harare. ๐Ÿงน๐Ÿ”ฅ

NetOne mobilised teams in Harare, Mutare, Masvingo and Chitungwiza on Friday as Zimbabwe marked its monthly National Clean-Up Day.

While the main ICT sector event was held at TelOne headquarters in Harare, NetOne teams were simultaneously on the ground in other cities โ€” bringing the clean-up campaign closer to communities.

NetOne Acting PR Manager Thamsanqa Luphahla said:

โ€œThis is not a Harare affair; it is a Zimbabwe affair.โ€

The company says it has participated in the first-Friday clean-up programme since 2021 and plans to continue its environmental drive as part of its sustainability agenda towards 2030.

๐ŸŒฑ Four cities. One message. One cleaner Zimbabwe.

๐Ÿ“ Mutare was among the cities feeling the impact.

๐Ÿšจ MARANGE HORROR: 50-YEAR-OLD FOUND HANGING AFTER FAMILY CONFRONTATION

BOCHA, MARANGE โ€” Shock has gripped Parowa Village after 50-year-old Benny โ€œBenizaโ€ Chimhuya was found hanging from an Amarula tree near the Musatya River.

Police say Chimhuya disappeared from his home after going to bed on August 31. His teenage son reportedly found his body the following morning.

But the case has taken a disturbing turn.

The Wasu Post has established that villagers are alleging Chimhuya had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with his own daughter, claims which reportedly triggered a confrontation with his elder son.

Police have not confirmed the allegations or linked them to his death.

Villagers have also made claims about juju, but there is no verified evidence supporting them.

๐Ÿ”ด What really happened before Chimhuya's death?

Police investigations are continuing.

โš ๏ธ The allegations remain unproven.

๐Ÿšจ BITI, NCUBE TRIAL DELAYED AGAIN โ€” STATE TOLD: START OR WITHDRAW

MUTARE โ€” Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti and his co-accused Morgan Ncube appeared in court on 1 September, but the State once again failed to start the trial, saying it was not ready.

The defence says it has been ready to proceed, while the State has repeatedly delayed the matter.

Bitiโ€™s lawyer, Advocate Chris Ndlovu, told The Wasu Post after court:

โ€œItโ€™s clear they are not ready for trial.โ€

The magistrate has now ordered the State to commence trial on 6 October, failing which the case will be withdrawn, according to Ndlovu.

Biti accused President Emmerson Mnangagwaโ€™s administration of trying to silence alternative political views.

โ€œWe are prepared to die for this country. We will remain in the trenches peacefully,โ€ Biti said.

He also accused the government of trying to establish a political dynasty, saying:

โ€œMr Mnangagwa is not a chief, Mr Mnangagwa is not an emperor and he is not a king and we will not allow that.โ€

๐Ÿ“… Next court date: 6 October 2026

Will the State finally proceed with the trial โ€” or will the case be withdrawn?
