The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service Commissioner General Schools Sports Gala was held at Chikurubi Secondary School.
The event brought together 15 schools from across Zimbabwe, all affiliated with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service. The Deputy Commissioner General, Shepherd Mpofu, praised the initiative, highlighting how sports can help kids steer clear of drugs and substance abuse 🚫.
The gala featured 5 disciplines: Netball, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, and Chess ♟️. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honorable Emily Jesaya, who expressed her gratitude to the Commissioner General, Dr. Moses Cyril Ngavaite Chihovhu, for the great initiative 🙏.
Deputy Minister Jesaya emphasized the importance of sports in identifying and developing the talents of kids to reach national and international standards 🌟. She also celebrated the achievements of officers from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service who are making Zimbabwe proud on international platforms, like Felistus Kwangwa and Caroline Mhandu 🏆.
In her closing remarks, Deputy Minister Jesaya encouraged the participants to dream big, train hard, and honor their parents, teachers, and coaches 💪. She also donated sports attire and balls to Chikurubi Primary and Secondary Schools 🎁. What a fantastic event! 😊
