Fr. Dumisani Ndlovu, visiting priest from St Luke’s in Chisuma whilst standing in for Fr. Oscar Bitu the priest in charge of St Kizito joined Knowledge Dube and Michelle Lydia Phiri in Holy Matrimony at St. Kizito Parish in Victoria Falls on 31 October 2025. Fr Dumisani implored the newlyweds to remain steadfast in prayer regardless of the circumstances for “a family that prays together stays together”. The priest also jokingly told the Dubes that theirs was the 49th wedding he had presided over and none of the 48 couples had separated, so he did not expect them to break his record. Mr Knowledge also received the sacrament of baptism during the wedding Mass.

Rev. Fr Oscar Bitu, in his homily said Mission Sunday is when we as children of God are called, invited or commanded to be missionaries and spread the message of hope to all people. “In the first reading, we meet Amalek trying to destroy God’s mission by fighting the Israelites but through relentless prayer and trust in God, Moses and the Israelites conquered”, he said. Whilst referring to the gospel, Rev Fr Bitu emphasised the importance persevering and persistent in prayer as exemplified by the widow whose efforts were rewarded. In his parting note, the priest encouraged everyone to be good missionaries in their daily lives, wherever they are.
