VICTORIA FALLS BRIDGE TEMPORARY CLOSURE

The Victoria Falls Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on Friday, 21 August 2026, from 09:00 to 10:00.

The closure is to facilitate the **Mercedes-Benz 140-Year Celebration – “One Bridge, Two Countries”** event taking place on and around the iconic bridge.

Motorists, tourism operators, border users and other travellers are advised to **plan accordingly** and follow directions from traffic management and security personnel on site.

The closure is expected to last one hour.

🚨 UPDATE | ROMO MEDIA

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says a DDF boat carrying approximately 90 passengers and five crew members capsized on Lake Kariba, with rescue operations continuing.

In a further statement, the ZRP said official information on those rescued, injured or deceased will be released after the scene management process has been completed.

Police have urged the media, members of the public and people at the scene to avoid publishing unverified figures relating to injuries or deaths, saying authorities should be allowed to manage the situation professionally and prevent the distortion of information.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS | ROMO MEDIA

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says a DDF boat carrying approximately 90 passengers and five crew members has capsized on Lake Kariba.

In a statement posted on X, police said rescue efforts are currently underway and that more details will be released in due course.

At this stage, authorities have not yet confirmed the number of casualties or injuries.

US$66.9 Million Infrastructure Deal Signed for Victoria Falls' Masuwe SEZ

A US$66.9 million joint venture agreement has been signed to develop bulk infrastructure for Lot 1 of Jafuta Estate in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone, Victoria Falls.

The project will provide water, sewer, electricity and telecommunications infrastructure to support future investment in hotels, lodges, commercial facilities, a Tourism Academy and the International Multi-purpose Cricket Stadium.
