VIC FALLS CRAFT COOPERATIVES UNITE TO TARGET GLOBAL MARKETS

Thirteen arts and crafts cooperatives in Victoria Falls have joined forces to establish the Victoria Falls Arts and Crafts Cooperative Union, in a move aimed at taking locally produced crafts beyond the tourist market and into international markets.

The union was formally launched on 18 September, following a capacity-building programme supported by ZimTrade, which equipped local producers with skills in cooperative management, regulatory compliance, product development and accessing export markets.

For years, Victoria Falls artisans have largely depended on tourists visiting the destination to purchase their products. The new union seeks to change that by creating a stronger collective platform through which locally made crafts can reach regional and international buyers.

According to ZimTrade, global demand presents significant opportunities, with imports within the broader arts and crafts product category increasing from US$276.3 billion in 2021 to US$319.4 billion in 2025.

The initiative could open new opportunities for local artisans while strengthening Victoria Falls' creative economy and promoting Zimbabwean-made products on the global market.

From the streets and craft markets of Victoria Falls to the world, local artisans are setting their sights beyond the tourist market.

FROM BACKING EXQ TO SHOKO FESTIVAL — CINGI CONTINUES TO RAISE THE VIC FALLS FLAG

Victoria Falls songstress Cingi (Cinginkosi Ncube) continues to make strides on Zimbabwe’s music scene, with a string of appearances putting the resort city’s talent on bigger stages.

Most recently, Cingi featured at the 16th Shoko Festival, appearing on the Sofar Harare Opening Night lineup alongside Vicky Soulful, Kuda Rice and Bhanshee.

The appearance follows another notable moment in her journey, where Cingi was part of the backing vocalists for ExQ during his Zimphonic performance, adding another major name and stage to her growing experience.

Her journey has also seen her share platforms with respected Zimbabwean musicians. She previously performed at Zim Folk Fusion, which featured artists including Hope Masike and Victor Kunonga, and has collaborated musically with internationally based Zimbabwean artist Vusa Mkhaya.

For Victoria Falls, Cingi’s growing national presence is another reminder of the depth of musical talent emerging from the city.

From supporting established artists to increasingly stepping into the spotlight under her own name, Cingi is steadily building her journey beyond Victoria Falls.

The Falls has talent, and Cingi is carrying it with her.

HWANGE DCC CHAIRMAN PAYS LAST RESPECTS TO SIR WICKNELL

Hwange DCC Chairman Cde Matthew Muleya joined mourners in paying his last respects to the late prominent businessman and philanthropist Sir Wicknell Chivayo, who tragically lost his life alongside his wife, Lucy Muteke, and others in a helicopter crash near Marondera on 30 September.

The visit comes as Zimbabwe continues to mourn a man whose philanthropy reached across communities, churches and sport, with tributes continuing to pour in from different parts of the country.

May Sir Wicknell and all those who lost their lives rest in eternal peace. 🕊️🇿🇼

FROM THE CANVAS TO CONSERVATION — THE LARRY NORTON STORY

Before the conservation battles, there was the artist and a deep love for the natural world.

In this first part of our conversation with renowned wildlife and landscape artist Larry Norton Art, he takes us back to where it all began, drawing from as young as two, growing up surrounded by wildlife, studying agriculture, becoming a Zambezi white-water rafting guide, working with galleries internationally, and eventually returning to Victoria Falls in 2008.

But returning home also made him increasingly concerned about the future of the place he loves.

💼 VFEX BOSS JUSTIN BGONI ELECTED TO TOP AFRICAN EXCHANGES ROLE

Justin Bgoni, the Group Chief Executive Officer of ZSE Holdings, has been appointed Vice-President of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA), effective 2 October 2026.

Bgoni oversees the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE), Victoria Falls Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) and Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange (ZEEX). He also serves as interim CEO of the Victoria Falls International Financial Centre.

His appointment comes as African stock exchanges push for greater cross-border investment, market integration and improved liquidity across the continent.

Bgoni brings more than 24 years of international finance and executive leadership experience, including previous roles at the New Zealand Stock Exchange, McKinsey & Company and First National Bank.

For Victoria Falls, the appointment adds significance to the city's growing ambitions as a financial and investment hub, with VFEX continuing efforts to attract new listings and international and diaspora investors.

ASEA currently represents 25 exchanges across 37 African countries, making Bgoni's appointment a notable elevation into continental capital-markets leadership.
