Winds hit 170km/h at Bribie Island during the storm – comparable to a category three cyclone – and another storm band was moving in last night with gusts above 100km/h.

• Noosa – 3,300
• Sunshine Coast – 1,600
• Gympie – 330
• Ipswich – 290

✨ The force is truly with Annabell

GRADUATING Beerwah State High School student Annabell MacKinney-Clohesy made one of the most memorable arrivals of this year’s formal season, travelling to the event in a Bushmaster armoured vehicle as a tribute to her late father, Lance Corporal Jared MacKinney, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010.

For Annabell, finishing high school was a joyful milestone touched with deep emotion. Her father drove a Bushmaster in Iraq and Afghanistan, shaping her wish to honour him by arriving at her Year 12 formal in the same kind of vehicle.

Congratulations to Annabell and her classmates for finishing their last year of schooling!

🚨 Co-Op faces eviction in 2027 as Wave plans trigger community backlash 🚨

Beerwah Co-Op and the servo face eviction from their leased site by mid-2027, to make way for a four-level, 400-space car park and retail precinct under the Wave station upgrade a public meeting heard today.

Around 50 community members attended the briefing, where the Co-Op board confirmed they are seeking alternative sites ahead of a formal eviction.

Emotions ran high over the viability of relocation, with the board noting it was unlikely the Co-Op and the servo could be relocated together.

The board stressed it was exploring options and being optimistic about the future.

Residents raised concerns about all rail traffic being funnelled into the current Co-Op site on the western side of the tracks and the strain this would place on surrounding roads.

Some attendees called for ‘absolute disruption’ to pressure TMR into reconsidering the current design.

Glasshouse Country & Maleny ‘on-line’ News

For almost 35 years Glasshouse County & Maleny News has been the weekly community newspaper that connects the communities and townships across Glasshouse Country and the Blackall Range. In April of 2020, in the face of the devastating affects the Coronavirus was having on the local business communities and the significant impact it was having on the newspaper’s advertising sales the decision was made to move the publication to an on-line only newspaper. The easiest way to make sure readers don’t miss a copy of the newspaper each week is to become an e-subscriber, which is free, and means readers will receive an email link to each new edition that is uploaded straight to their inbox. Each week the newspaper is filled with stories about what is going on in the circulation area, ensuring that locals know what is happening in their streets, and towns. Local residents are encouraged to share their stories, letters to the editor and updates on any of the community groups that they are involved in. If readers have something they would like included in an upcoming edition please email it to [email protected]
