I’m honoured to share that I’ve been invited to join the Board of Directors of the Ontario Historical Society.

For years I’ve been committed to documenting and advocating for Ontario’s forgotten and unregistered cemeteries—the overlooked resting places that hold our earliest stories, our buried histories, and the evidence of communities long gone. Stepping into this role will allow me to continue that work with a wider lens and a stronger voice, supporting preservation, awareness, and responsible stewardship across the province.

I’m grateful for the trust the OHS has placed in me, and I’m excited to help advance the vital work of protecting Ontario’s heritage—especially the sites that too often fall through the cracks.

Mario weeds a roadside memorial in rural Hamilton. He doesn’t know the person who passed away in a collision here, nor does he know the family. He drives by and thinks about them, though, and says a little prayer when he does. It was a minor step to clean up the weeds and help show some respect and love for the deceased. He’s a human being, he says, and now he prays while he weeds.

On or around Emancipation Day I always visit the Street Cemetery near Canfield, Ontario. I take a moment to think about the people laid to rest there—I’m not related to any of them, but I know some of their stories by heart now. Slow down, think and breathe.

Up in OS to say happy retirement to my pal and mentor Mark Perry - after 40 years at Rogers Television he’s free to stop worrying about TV production, budgets and scheduling! Mark’s passion for TV production inspired me when I was in high school. Great to catch up & happy retirement Mark!

Crystal sells pies out of a trailer beside Hwy 89 west of Mount Forest. She also runs a nearby pumpkin farm. Open at 9am for your breakfast pie needs. In my experience eating a piece of pie while driving is a considerable challenge
