Public Statement Regarding Ongoing Legal Proceedings
To our supporters,
We want to share something important with you directly, in our own words.
We’ve made the difficult decision to file a legal claim in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice against Spencer, the creator of the YouTube channel MCGA. This relates to a series of defamatory statements made about our family over several months - statements that we can no longer ignore.
Some of these statements, both direct and indirect, have targeted our 9-year-old son - crossing a line that should never be crossed. These include downplaying the level of care which he requires, claiming that we are exploiting him for financial gain, and making reprehensible claims about the origin of his condition. However implausible Spencer’s assertions and suggestions may seem, they carry real consequences and cannot be dismissed as harmless. We feel it necessary to state clearly: they are false, scandalous, and malicious. As parents, we will always fight to defend the dignity and well-being of our child. That is not negotiable.
We initially attempted to resolve this matter through legal negotiations between our lawyer, James Kitchen and Spencer’s lawyer. We issued legal correspondence in good faith, requesting a complete public retraction. Those efforts were unsuccessful. Spencer then publicly disclosed confidential communications protected by legal privilege. At that point, an out-of-court resolution was no longer possible.
We are exercising a right that every Canadian holds when defamed: turning to the courts. This is not about revenge or spectacle - it's about decency, mutual respect and protecting our family from attacks of this nature.
There is much more to this story that has not yet been made public, and we believe the full truth belongs in a courtroom, where it can be assessed fairly and fully - as a opposed to a social media environment. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not be discussing details until a judgment has been rendered, and the case becomes public record. At that time, we will share more about the timeline, the evidence, and why this action was necessary. If the matter is settled, then we will respect the confidentiality that comes with settlement.
Some have questioned our reasons for doing this. Our answer is simple: As a traditional family, we are exercising our right to stand up for our principles and protecting our dignity. That’s what we’re doing.
To those who have supported us through this - thank you. We are deeply grateful for the compassion and kindness we have received.
As we move forward, we remain focused on bringing you the thoughtful, factual, and principled commentary you've come to expect from Northern Perspective. And we will continue to do so, with clarity and purpose.
