Evond Blake (aka MEDIAH) is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist who weaves contemporary graffiti/street art forms with painterly techniques and digital media to create large-scale, immersive cinematic environments. Heavily inspired by avionics, mechanical engineering and schematics, MEDIAH’s abstract work utilises speed, motion, dynamism, and force to depict otherworldly dimensions through an abst
ract lens. MEDIAH is described as ‘one of the most revered graffiti artists in Canada’ due to his extensive and prolific career that spans over 27 years. His work has been showcased internationally in galleries and his large-scale commissioned murals and cinematic media art projects have been nominated for awards and used as set locations in film. With a state of the art, versatile production studio, IAH Digital, MEDIAH’s command of broadcast motion design, VFX and his established contemporary art career provides him with a diversified toolset that allows him to create powerful, unique viewing experiences. MEDIAH’s latest project titled ‘AZURITE FIELDING’ was a fully immersive cinematic project using six laser projectors with real-time performance elements. ‘AZURITE FIELDING’ premiered on November 3 in Toronto, Canada and was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and Street Art Toronto. I feel it is imperative to create positive imagery that can shift the mindsets of future generations. Although my artistic heritage lies in graffiti art; which is the means by which I established myself as an artist at 15 years of age, my industry experience in broadcast design, motion graphics, VFX and video post production gives me a unique toolset which allows me to create unprecedented immersive environments and blockchain art. All of my work is heavily inspired by my fascination with speed, motion, force and the resulting chaos and subsequent order.
