Dozan World

Dozan World Connecting the music and musicians of the Levant with the world. publishing | performance | education | production

We are artists unified in providing the Levantine music community with a place to call home. The Levant is an Eastern Mediterranean region encompassing Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and a multiplicity of faiths, languages and music. At Dozan World, we congregate to celebrate the stories in our songs and the movement in our melodies. We nurture music creation, promote Arabic folkloric an

d modern choral music, and deepen the world’s knowledge and appreciation of music through performances, teaching, composition, arrangements, recording and publishing.

Quarter tones aren’t “out of tune” they’re the intervals that carry emotional depth and traditions.
Unlike the piano’s fixed 12-tone scale, Arabic and Turkish music divide the tone into smaller parts, unlocking colors Western ears rarely hear.

🎶 Honoring Two Giants of Arabic Music 🎶

This September, we remember the legacies of Sayed Darwish (1892–1923) often called the Father of Modern Arabic Music, and Riad Al Sonbaty (1906–1981), virtuoso of the Arabic longa and one of Umm Kulthum’s most important composers.

✨ Darwish gave voice to Egypt’s revolutionary spirit with songs like Ahou Da Lli Sar, shaping collective identity through music.
✨ Al Sonbaty enriched the Arabic instrumental and vocal tradition with masterpieces such as Longa Farahfaza, leaving behind a timeless repertoire that still resonates today.

Their works are not just history; they continue to inspire choirs, ensembles, and musicians worldwide.

💬 Which of their compositions do you carry in your memory?

🎼 Did you know the same seven musical pitches are named differently around the world?

From Do–Re–Mi in Southern Europe and Latin America, to A–B–C in English-speaking countries, to the unique H/B twist in Germany, each system carries a cultural story. 🌍✨

Whether you call it C major, Do mayor, or C-Dur, the music is the same, but the names reveal fascinating traditions of teaching, singing, and notation.

👉 Swipe through to see how your system compares!
💬 Which one do you use most, ABC, Solfège, or German?
