Dozan World

Dozan World Connecting the music and musicians of the Levant with the world. publishing | performance | education | production

We are artists unified in providing the Levantine music community with a place to call home. The Levant is an Eastern Mediterranean region encompassing Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and a multiplicity of faiths, languages and music. At Dozan World, we congregate to celebrate the stories in our songs and the movement in our melodies. We nurture music creation, promote Arabic folkloric an

d modern choral music, and deepen the world’s knowledge and appreciation of music through performances, teaching, composition, arrangements, recording and publishing.

🎼 Just Released: Dance of the Madjnoon
We’re proud to welcome a powerful new work to the Dozan World catalogue: Dance of the Madjnoon by JUNO-nominated composer Saman Shahi

Written for violin, clarinet in Bb, and piano, this vivid trio explores the inner world of Madjnoon — a soul possessed by divine or romantic love. With jagged rhythms, lyrical swells, and trance-like motion, the piece captures the intensity and surrender of passion gone wild.

Commissioned in Switzerland and premiered across Europe and Canada, this work is a journey of ecstasy, chaos, and haunting clarity — and a perfect fit for ensembles looking to push expressive boundaries.

Ziad Rahbani has left the stage… but not our hearts.

Lebanese music will never sound the same again.

Ziad didn’t just compose, he challenged. He questioned injustice with irony, cradled pain with melody, and made Beirut’s chaos sing.

Through theater, music, and sharp satire, he gave voice to the silenced, the disillusioned, the hopeful. He brought jazz into Arabic music, and politics into every piano chord.

He taught us that music can resist. That it can laugh, mourn, protest, all at once.

Today, we mourn the loss of a radical artist, a cultural architect, a fearless truth-teller.

🖤 Rest in defiance, Ziad.
Your sound will echo louder than silence.

“Come, said the Muse, sing me a song no poet has yet chanted.” – Walt Whitman ✨
This timeless call to creativity reminds us why music and poetry matter: to tell new stories and give fresh voice to universal feelings.
We’ve brought these words to life in Sing Me the Universal, a choral piece that unites poetry and melody in a stunning way. 💫

In Loving Memory of Judeh Majaj (Ammo Judeh)
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved colleague, mentor, and friend, Judeh Majaj, affectionately known to many as Ammo Judeh.

Judeh was more than a consultant to Dozan World; he was a visionary, a believer in our mission, and a passionate advocate for music, culture, and community. With a mind rich in knowledge and a heart full of kindness, he inspired everyone around him. Whether in deep conversations about heritage or joyful moments of music-making, Judeh carried wisdom, humility, and endless generosity.

A true son of Jerusalem, his journey through culture, education, and leadership left lasting marks in every space he entered, specifically to community initiatives cultural dialogue, and the true power of change they create. His appreciation for music wasn’t just academic, it was deeply human. He believed in the power of song to bring people together and always reminded us that music could be a home for all.

We are forever grateful for his light, his laughter, and his unwavering belief in our work. His spirit will continue to echo in every note, every page, and every project we carry forward.

Rest in peace, dear Ammo. You will always be part of our music.
