We spent a week exploring Hells Canyon and the surrounding area, and it still feels like we only scratched the surface. There’s so much to see between the canyon, mountain roads, viewpoints, and backcountry campsites that this place easily deserves a return trip. As the deepest river gorge in the United States, dropping more than 2,000 feet deeper than the Grand Canyon, the scale of Hells Canyon is hard to comprehend until you see it for yourself.

A dry-looking desert track, a hidden layer of clay, and one very stuck EarthRoamer. What followed was a long night of digging, winching, problem-solving, and an eventual recovery that taught us hard-earned lessons about overlanding, recovery gear, and traveling in heavy expedition vehicles.

Just 2 miles before the end of the Owyhee Discovery Trail, the road collapsed beneath us and left us stuck in the middle of the night. What should have been the final stretch of the trail quickly turned into the most challenging recovery of our EarthRoaming adventures, testing both our patience and problem-solving skills in one of the most remote places we’ve traveled.

We found an epic campsite right on the mountain bike trails, perched on a cliff overlooking the Mag 7 trail system near Moab. Being able to camp right where we ride is one of our favorite parts of traveling in the EarthRoamer, and waking up with the trails just outside the door made this spot even better. We were excited to spend the day exploring the terrain, chasing views, and putting in some miles on the bikes.

We made our way out to Gemini Bridges and spent the evening trying to track down the elusive bridge as the light faded from dusk into night. It turned into a great hike through the desert, and we finally reached the bridge just as it was getting dark before heading back to the EarthRoamer.

Today we are celebrating 10,000 subscribers on YouTube! What started as an idea has turned into a community of 10,000 people following along with our adventures. We are so thankful for all of YOU for watching and following along on our journey.

Just the other night we were chatting about the best burgers we’ve ever had and realized the list included so many places from so many towns in so many states. What a privilege to eat our way across the western United States and to have such an incredible opportunity to travel and explore.

We drove the trail out to Gemini Bridges in the EarthRoamer and had an amazing time taking in the views along the way, especially with the sunset lighting up the landscape around us. We reached the trailhead right as dusk settled in, which made the whole drive feel even more memorable.
