TOPIC: THE SAMARITAN WOMAN'S ENCOUNTER WITH CHRIST

TEXT: JOHN 4:1-10
1. When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2. (though Jesus Himself baptized not, but His disciples,)
3. He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4. And He must needs go through Samaria.
5. Then cometh He to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6. Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with His journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8. (For His disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9. Then saith the woman of Samaria unto Him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give Me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water.

KEY VERSE: JOHN 4:24 God is a spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth”

The encounter of the woman of Samaria with the Lord Jesus Christ at “Jacob’s well” brought solution to many serious issues in Christian life and doctrine. The Bible said in John 4:3-4 “He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee. And He must needs go through Samaria”. There was a serious urge by our Lord Jesus Christ to go through Samaria to clarify some issues of life even though He was to go to Galilee.

One of the issues the Lord made clear was the Word of Truth and Salvation. In Verse 10, Jesus emphasized the need to ask for “Living water”. The Living Water is the undiluted Word of God that quenches every spiritual thirst and gives you ticket to Heaven. The book of John 7:37–38 says. “Out of his belly shall flow rivers of Living water”.

The Lord clarified the issue of multiple marriages. In John 4:16. “Jesus said unto her, GO, call thy husband, and come hither”. The woman replied the Lord that she has no husband. The Lord knew she is with the sixth husband. Romans 7:1-3, talks about whoever marries another wife while the husband is still alive commit adultery.

Go and correct your wrong marriages without delay. Acceptable standard of worshipping God was made clearer. John 4: 21-24. Before then, the understanding was that worshippers needed to go to Jerusalem or the mountains before their prayers can be answered. Now, you can worship God from any location in spirit, truth and in righteousness.

Evangelism and Soul winning was another key area. The Lord emphasized this in John 4:35, where He said the fields are white and already to harvest. The Woman of Samaritan after drinking of the Living Water ran into the city proclaiming the Messiah, Jesus Christ to the people and the multitude followed her to meet Jesus Christ. Many are waiting for you to lead them to Christ. Rapture is very near

TOPIC: DESIRE AND POSSESS SARAH'S CHRISTIAN QUALITIES

TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 3:1-4
1. This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3. Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4. One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

KEY VERSE: ISAIAH 51:2 “Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him”.

The standard of Divine call was manifested in the life and ministry of Abraham. Abraham was called the "Father of Faith". The Lord was going to bring out the gospel that will save the world through Abraham. Today we are called the children of Abraham, and the women the daughters of Sarah. This is the standard Christian Ministry. How God wants it to go – the man and the woman.

Those that entered into ministry do so without this complete formation. The wife of a preacher must play her role; but this is hardly happening. Can you see the relationship between marriage and the Christian ministry? Desire is not enough; you must qualify for it. If a man desires the office of a bishop, there are qualifications for it.

Woman, your husband can be a preacher by your contribution and support. Abraham could not have gone to the Promised Land if Sarah did not follow him. Then all the Lord has done through Abraham would have not been possible because Sarah would have frustrated it.

If Sarah did not have spirit of the gospel, the spirit of submission, the Christian faith that came through Abraham would have been frustrated. That is why God today calls women, “The daughters of Sarah”. Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughter ye are” (1Peter 3:6a).

Many are into ministry and their wives are not cooperating and the Bible tells us, for ministry to be effective, the family of the preacher must play their role. Some husbands have dropped out of ministry, or ran away from home because of their wives. Some are in second marriages and their righteousness have greatly declined.

A tough and uncooperating wife will hinder the work and frustrate the efforts of the pastor in the ministry given to him. The pastor is not doing well because of his nagging and satanic wife who will not cooperate with him to move the ministry forward. By so doing she becomes the door way for Satan to occupy the church.

Thought for the day: A man’s Divine call to ministry includes his wife.

TOPIC: ASK GOD ALWAYS FOR COUNSEL TO MAINTAIN RIGHTEOUSNESS IN YOUR MARRIAGE

TEXT: JAMES 1:4-5
4. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

KEY VERSE: PROVERBS 15:22- Without counsel, purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors, they are established.

Seek God’s face in all matters. Men ought always to pray and not faint. Be prayerful in your marriage to always know what to do. To be perfect, entire and in want of nothing, you must be patient with the other person, no matter what they do. Control yourself and your emotions. Refuse to set your mind, eyes and heart on evil.

Ask God if you lack wisdom in responding to your husband or how to treat your wife. Always ask God what to do and how to do it when dealing with an unbelieving or backslidden partner. Ask God for help. If you must correct your spouse, receive grace from God to do it correctly.

Remember, God is always ready to help in times of trouble. He understands what you are going through and will not fail to help you as you go to Him in prayer. God gives righteous preachers wisdom to counsel you for holy living. Ask for advice from the righteous and holy so that you will know precisely what the mind of God is.

It is necessary to seek counsel from the experienced in important matters. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. Always apply wisdom to the Word of God. Counselling will help you deal wisely with the practical situations of life. Do not be independent; learn to go for counselling since, typically, there is more insight from many people than from one person.

The wise man Solomon tells us, “Two are better than one, they have a better reward for their labor” (Ecclesiastes 4:9). Therefore, getting some godly eyes to see with you or godly brains to reason with you will definitely lead you to make the right decision that will go a long way to help your marriage.

TOPIC: IGNORANCE OF GOSPEL TRUTH IS DANGEROUS

TEXT: ISAIAH 55:7-8
7. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
8. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD.

KEY VERSE: PROVERBS 19:2 Also, that a soul be without knowledge, it is not good.

Christ established one Church, His body, on earth and gave one Bible, the Word of God, to His church. So, be sure to verify your beliefs and practice to ensure you are complying with the complete standard of God, as outlined in His Word, the Bible. Ignorance of gospel truth on how to obtain peace with God, has slain millions of unbelievers and is still doing so today.

John 14:6 is clear, JESUS ALONE is the Way to God. There is no alternative. The same ignorance is seen in many preachers of the gospel today, who are busy leading people in ignorance on their way to HELL. They are ignorant of the truth that will set them free from eternal damnation, so are their followers.

Matthew 7:13 For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at. Many believers and Christian believers and Christian congregations are ignorant and argue over truths that failure to comply will hinder their going to heaven. Let us examine some of these

Sin committed unknowingly is the commandment of God broken or transgressed in ignorance and is subject to divine penalty, unless pardon is sought for it in Christ and, where required, restitution is carried out. God is no respecter of persons.

Submit yourself to the Holy Spirit and to God's Word. Hence do not reject or ignore the sound teaching of God's word that will reveal your sins to you for your thorough cleansing and holiness in Christ. The Lord commands this concerning His followers. Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.

Cooperate with the Holy Spirit Who is willing to reveal to you all things in your life requiring confession, repentance, restitution and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Value the place of true and holy preachers, teachers and pastors in your life. Learn from them, listen to them, acquire their Christian materials, support them and associate with them.

TOPIC: HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM IS A PROMISE FOR GOD'S SERVICE.

TEXT: JOHN 14:15-18
16. And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; .
17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

KEY VERSE: ACTS 4:31 “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness”.

The Spirit of God normally came upon whoever would carry out divine service for the living God. Now when Moses wanted helpers over the work, the Lord said, gather them, gather all the seventy elders to Me, and I will take of thy Spirit and put upon them so that they can do the work with thee.

The seventy elders were rulers of the people; Israelites indeed. They were believers of Jehovah, consecrated to Him but because of special choice they received power for service. Gather them, I will take of your Spirit and put it upon them, so that they can bear the burden with service.

You see in the New Testament, Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto Me. In the Old Testament, I will take of the Spirit that is upon you, and put upon them to bear burden with you in service.

The presence of the Holy Spirit and the coming of the Holy Spirit, is for the purpose of service. And Moses went out and told the people the ways of the Lord, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle. The Lord came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took up the Spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders.

And it came to pass that when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and did not cease. When the Holy Spirit came upon these people that were chosen of God, the evidence was that they prophesied. The Spirit of God came upon them, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with tongues as evidence of the presence of the Holy Ghost.

The power of the Holy Ghost is essential in your ministry and in your life. How many of you are yearning to be used by God? You are praying for greater works, you are crying, Oh God, use me. The Lord is saying, ask for baptism in the Holy Ghost. Ye shall receive power.

TEXT: ISAIAH 3:16-24.
16. Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17. Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
18. In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19. The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20. The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21. The rings, and nose jewels,
22. The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23. The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24. And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

KEY VERSE: 1 CORINTHIANS 3:17. If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy. For the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Worldliness will take many to hell fire except they repent, clean themselves and start living in holiness and righteousness. Presented here is an excerpt from the revelation of Sister Ladi Nkem of a lady in hell fire because of her ungodly dressing:

"After this l heard a lady crying in hell fire, pleading for forgiveness. 'Lord Jesus,' l said, 'There is another lady in the torments of hell fire, pleading for your forgiveness. Please forgive her.' We drew closer to her and Jesus said, 'Ask her what brought her to hell.' I asked, 'Why didn't you follow the narrow way?

What made you to follow the broad way which has landed you in hell?' She answered and said, 'When l was on earth, l did not believe what my pastor was preaching. l did not accept that wearing trousers as a lady was a sin, Perming or Jerry curling my hair, wearing earrings, painting my face, bleaching, wearing necklace, chains, bracelets, rings; keeping long nails, using attachment on my hair, were sinful before God.'

She continued, 'l did not count it sinful to lie with an unmarried man, since l myself was unmarried. I also run after the husbands of other women. When l died and arrived here, l realized that my pastor was preaching the truth.'

The Lord told me that the attachment women use on their hair came from the hair of a very big demonic serpent and that cortex and lipsticks are actually the blood of human beings which is made to assume various colours. The men and ministers of the churches that permit this evil dressing perish silently through lust in their hearts or through actual acts of immorality. This may not be known now, but the day of judgment will reveal it.

Thought for the day. The Temple of God must be holy.

TOPIC: HOW TO CARRY OUT YOUR RESTITUTION.

TEXT: JOB 42:7-9
7. And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
8. Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
9. So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

KEY VERSE: James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The saints of God took restitution seriously. Jesus took it seriously so do not play with it. God will not spare you in the day of judgement, therefore take it seriously and He shall help you. Sometimes, the offended person may not even be aware of it.

For example, it may be that you committed adultery. Obviously, your husband was not there so he was ignorant of it. But now that you are converted, seeking restoration, you will need to go back to your husband and apologize for cheating on him.

It may be that while your wife was away, you slept with your housemaid or another woman. You must confess and apologize to your wife for breaking marital vow. God demands this to be done. Sin brings judgement upon the sinner and sometimes upon the family. You need to treat sin properly for God's forgiveness.

Do not go carnally or in pride to do restitution. You are the one guilty, When you are coming before somebody whom you have offended, you are supposed to show humility. That is because if the person offended refuses to forgive you, you may be prosecuted. So pride should have no place in this matter at all.

If you are coming before God and man to correct that which you have done wrong, do so with humility. That humility can give you favour. If you are going to do restitution to an unbeliever who does not know this truth, do it with wisdom. If you are talking to someone you have offended, search for the right words to talk to him.

Confess that you which you have done, tell him that you are at his mercy. When you are to do restitution, seek for guidance and get understanding on how to do all the things that follow. If you do not have the money, seek his patience. Do not say, "l have restitution to do, but that will be when l have the money." Do not wait till you have the money because you do not know when you will die. Expose yourself and plead for mercy and patience.

Thought for the day. Restitution must be done without delay.

TOPIC: PERSONAL CHRISTIAN DISCIPLINE

TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 2:1-7
1. Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
7. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

KEY VERSE: 2 TIMOTHY 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

God set leadership over His people so that His sheep should not be scattered for not having shepherds. He sets leadership for decency and orderliness, therefore submit under leadership. Scriptural discipline is not only about submission to your Christian leaders but it is a practice to work on yourself because it is required to live fruitfully and make it to heaven.

You must develop and inculcate personal Christian discipline in your life. Discipline is the act of self-control, self-direction and personal orderliness on the path of righteousness to achieve something for God, not necessarily for self. The Christian race is compared to the profession of a soldier.

Discipline is required in the life of a soldier; both personal discipline of ordering his life and the discipline the superiors bring upon his life to make him please his superiors and serve well. The Bible tells us that we should be personally disciplined; as leaders, we should guide and discipline others to bring them to order and ensure decency.

Discipline talks about endurance. You must endure; gather your strength to be patient and peaceful. Restrain yourself to ensure that the right action is taken. Discipline is needed because naturally, you would not have wanted to do it or to stop it, but it is necessary to be done or stopped.

Gather all your strength like somebody taking a bath with cold water in the harmattan season. You must gather all your strength to keep yourself orderly and achieve something good for your life.

Again, a man in a warfare does not entangle himself with civilian affairs, the affairs of this life, such as watching football; you would have wanted to do so, but you know you will be wasting your time because you need time to do many things. Your mind may be pulling you to go and watch football, but you decide to use the time for something spiritually profitable; to study the Bible or to pray.

Thought for the day: You must cultivate personal Christian discipline.

TOPIC: APPLY VARIOUS METHODS FOR SOUL-WINNING

TEXT: JOHN 1:45-48.
45. Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
47. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!.
48. Nathanael saith unto Him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

KEY VERSE: JOHN 1:46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

1. Evangelism through invitation to Church Service: Invite people to programs, church services, conferences, crusade etc. Persuade them and, apply wisdom on them. Bear the cost. As they come to hear the word, they will find salvation.

2. Banqueting Evangelism: You can organize a feast and tell your loved ones that you are having a feast to thank God for something so good He has done for you- it could be child birth, or you bought a new thing like a car, or a new house. As they gather to eat and rejoice with you, then you can present the Gospel to them. You can choose to invite a preacher to present the gospel to them.

3. Evangelism by Bill Boards Or Sign Boards: Short gospel messages can be put on billboards or signboards. You can construct a signboard to that effect. Construct a signboard and fix it at the entrance to the town or in the centre of the town. The inscription could read: “Try Jesus; you will see the difference in your life” That writing alone will turn many to Christ by the Holy Spirit.

4. Evangelism By Telephone: This involves speaking to people on phone or sending text message to them, presenting clearly the gospel message. The methods of evangelism listed here are not exhaustive. Ask God for appropriate methods for your evangelism field.

May the Lord fill you with Passion and wisdom for soul winning. May the Lord revive your evangelism spirit and embolden you by the Holy Ghost. May the Lord grant you converts that will endure to everlasting life and make you wear the soul winner's crown in heaven In Jesus name.
