A new tourism site, Visit Mole Valley, is shining a spotlight on the beautiful destination of Mole Valley in Surrey, encouraging locals to explore a little deeper and visitors from further afield to see beyond the famous sights.

Proudly situated at the heart of the Surrey Hills, yet just an hour from London, Mole Valley is home to the historic and characterful market towns of Dorking and Leatherhead as well as the bustling larger villages of Ashtead, Bookham and Fetcham. Alongside these, charming smaller countryside villages such as Brockham, Forest Green, Abinger Hammer, Ockley, Coldharbour and many more are ripe for exploration.

The new Visit Mole Valley tourism website aims to not only celebrate the region’s iconic landmarks – such as Box Hill and the Stepping Stones, Leith Hill Tower and the National Trust’s Polesden Lacey – but also to highlight lesser-known hidden gems.

An open letter to Waverley councillors from the Waverley Borough Council CIL Injustice campainers:

Dear Councillors,

We hope you are having a good summer. Despite continued support from many, for which we are very grateful, the saga continues. One victim’s bill increases by £1,000 of interest a month, he is trying to sell his family home in a flat property market to pay, continually dropping the price; this issue will likely end up costing him c.£300,000. All because of an administrative error. So our resolve to fight this and the other cases is undeterred. In light of the narrowly defined CIL discretionary review that only looks at council error, we continue our CAMPAIGN FOR DISCRETION for both Homeowner and Agent Error .

Through FOI requests, we discovered other councils show considerable discretion to homeowners in 4 ways, please see below. Not all councils have responded and others said they have not encountered these issues due to heavy proactive communication to homeowners.

We might assume that our modern Christmas owes much to the Victorians. In fact, carol-singing, present-giving, mulled wine and mince pies were all just as popular in Tudor times. This lecture is based on my book with Alison Weir 'A Tudor Christmas'. It was a twelve-day-long festival, over which the Lord of Misrule held sway; so beloved by English people that its traditions survived remarkably unchanged in an age of tumultuous religious upheaval

Since Covid there has been a massive increase in work-related discomfort (aches and pains) people are suffering due to a lack of awareness of Healthy working setups, and more importantly when they are suffering, they are not aware of how to address the issues, and today's minor aches and pains can become tomorrow's long-term health issues. Leith Hill Musical Festival invites you to come and sing highlights from Bach's dramatic oratorio, St John Passion. Depicting the biblical story of Jesus' crucifixion from the gospel of St John, Bach takes us on an emotional journey from the anguish and suffering of Jesus to the bewilderment of his followers and the anger and hatred of the crowd.

Now in its 25th year this annual event is an ideal opportunity to support local charities, have a cup of tea or coffee, purchase your Christmas cards and take part in some fun and games. There will be a huge selection of Christmas cards, an amazing array of interesting gifts, games, and refreshments and an opportunity to talk to the participating charities. This is also a rare chance to see inside this historic building, which can be described as the true heart of Guildford.

The event is sponsored by the Mayor of Guildford and Cavender Estate Agents. It will be opened by this year’s Mayor, Cllr Howard Smith. The Mayor will present the prize to Mariusz Czajkowski , the winner of this year’s National Eczema Society’s Christmas card competition.

After an interruption last year due to the works in West Street, the exhibition of Gauge 1 model railways at the United Reformed Church hall in West Street, Dorking will be on again on Saturday the 1st of November.

Gauge 1 model trains are at a scale of 10 mm to the foot which is more than twice the size of 00 gauge. Engines are mostly live steam, fired by alcohol or butane gas while some are battery powered. Ready to increase the value of your home? Whether you’re planning to sell soon or you just want to increase your investment, improving your home can lead to much larger returns when it’s time to sell. So, whether you’re planning to use your savings or take out a homeowner loan to pay for the upgrades, we’ve listed some of the best ways you can add value to your property.

Modernising the kitchen and bathroom
One of the best ways to add value to your home is by improving the kitchen and bathroom. These two areas are some of the most complex, and while upgrades can be expensive, you’re likely to drastically increase the value of your home.

In fact, research shows that renovating your kitchen and bathroom can increase your home’s value by around 25%. Key areas you may want to consider are the flooring, cabinets, cooker, worktops, and the bath or shower.

Adding extra living space
Another way you can increase the value of your home is with a house extension.
