Ok, so, (some of) you have been asking - hence - here are three(ish) things I’d recommend you look out for (if not seek) in your automated mower - all of which are at work with the Luba 3 from x which we use for the paddocky lawned area.
1 - Boundary wires. The tech is so good now that I just don’t think the cut and the result of the ones with boundary wires can compete any more; also those older models aren’t very good at going right up to the edge of the lawn so you need to trim that manually which is grim.
2 - Antennas - you don’t need one. At least not with the Luba 3 model. It is a plug’n’play machine which for someone who doesn’t like others knowing I’m not doing the mowing myself, is a superb feature and means the whole operation is just less conspicuous.
3 - Clippings - within a matter of mows the grass height is maintained at whatever height you want and when coupled with a frequent scheduled trim clippings just disappears into the lawn, nourishing it and ensuring you’ve got your green bin free for other things.
4 - Bonus point - once you’ve enjoyed steering the machine round the area you want it to mow, you can schedule the mowing. There is basically zero installation. I tend to schedule it for after 10am so that any dew has left the party, and the app tells you/me the machine’s progress and whether it has run into any issues (like running over a rat - which, because of its infinite number of sensors it has yet to do).
If you’d like me to post a link directly to the model we use then let me know in the comments. And feel free to chuck in any other unanswered queries. The most prevalent question will get a follow up vid, just because ;)
