Incredible vocals, beat and production on this one that I had the pleasure of mixing.

My instinct was to ensure the vocals felt dynamic throughout by automating their stereo width between different sections, and giving choruses an open cinematic effect compared to the tighter verses.

Easter break in Lloret de Mar with the fam. It was lovely!

Another fun production/mixing mentor session, helping this engineer work through a mix that was holding him back.

Emil was stuck with a complex live mix with multiple conflicting audio sources (ambient mics); in his own words, there was not enough clarity to pick out instruments - a classic issue.

We spent a couple of hours simplifying the session and also creating space for the close mics with careful EQing and panning. We also undid some of the processing that was actually obfuscating the mix, rather than improving clarity.

Along the way, we uncovered a few new techniques and approaches to help him in future 💪

Checking yesterday's masters this morning before sending them off for approval.

Some advice - always sleep on your mixes/masters and listen with fresh ears in the morning. Luckily, today everything sounded as good as it did yesterday. But sometimes, the results can be surprising!
