Tip #034 - Answer Questions Before Customers Ask

Most businesses get asked the same questions again and again.

How much does it cost?
How long does it take?
Where do you cover?
Do I need to book?
How does the process work?

Instead of only answering these questions by email, phone or message, you can use them to improve your website.

Adding FAQs to important pages can make your website more helpful, clearer and easier to use. It gives potential customers quick answers before they enquire, which can help them feel more confident about taking the next step.

FAQs can also support your SEO.

People often search Google by asking questions, so answering those questions clearly on your website can help Google understand what your page is about.
The key is to use real questions that your customers actually ask, not vague questions added just to fill space.

Good FAQs should feel useful, natural and specific to your business.

✨ Actionable tip: Write down five questions
Think about the questions customers ask before they buy, book, visit or enquire.
Write down five of the most common ones and consider adding them to your homepage, service pages, product pages or contact page.

❓ Need help making your website more useful for customers? At Digidol, we can help turn common questions into clear website content, FAQs, blogs and service-page improvements that support both users and SEO.

Tip #033 - One Page Can’t Do Everything

A lot of small business websites try to explain every service on one page.
It might feel tidy, but one page can only do so much.

If your business offers several different services, each important service may need its own space to properly explain what you do, who it is for, where you offer it, what is included, and how someone can enquire.

This helps customers because they can quickly find the service that is relevant to them, without having to read through information that does not apply.
It also helps Google.

If each service only has a sentence or two, or is simply listed in bullet points, Google has very little detail to work with. This can make it harder for your website to appear when people search for those specific services.

For example, instead of one short page that says “we offer cleaning services”, a business may benefit from separate pages for carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning and commercial cleaning.

The aim is not to create pages for the sake of it.

The aim is to give your most important services enough room to be useful, searchable and easy to understand. Done properly, this can help direct more high-quality traffic to your website and your inbox.

✨ Actionable tip: Check your service pages
Look at your website and ask whether your key services have their own clear pages.
If everything is bundled together, consider whether splitting your main services into dedicated pages could make your website easier to use and easier to find.

🧭 Need help structuring your website properly? At Digidol, we can review your current pages and recommend a clearer website structure that supports SEO, improves the user journey and helps customers find the right information faster.

Tip #032 - Don’t Just Hope Google Finds You 🔍

Having a website is a great start, but simply putting a page online does not guarantee that Google has found it, understood it, or added it to search results.
This is where Google Search Console comes in.

Google Search Console is a free tool that helps you understand how your website is being seen by Google Search. It can show which pages are appearing, what people are searching before they click, and whether Google has found any issues with your website.

One of the most useful things you can do on Search Console is to submit your sitemap.

A sitemap is essentially a list of the important pages on your website. By submitting it through Search Console, you are giving Google a clearer route around your site.

You can also check whether your key pages are being indexed. In simple terms, this means checking whether Google has properly added them to its search results.
Because if a page is not indexed, it is very unlikely to bring you any traffic from Google.

✨ Actionable tip: Check what Google can see
Set up Google Search Console, submit your sitemap, and check whether your key pages are indexed.
Pay particular attention to your homepage, service pages, product pages, contact page and any important local landing pages.

📈 Not sure whether Google can properly find your website? At Digidol, we can review your SEO setup, check your sitemap and indexing, and highlight any simple improvements that could help your business become more visible online.

Tip #031 - Write for humans, help the algorithms

Search is changing.

Google is changing, AI tools are becoming more common, and the way people find information online is continuing to evolve.

But for small businesses, the core principle remains the same. Your online content needs to be clear, useful, and easy to understand.

It can be tempting to write website content purely for Google, using awkward keywords, repeated phrases, and overly robotic wording in the hope that it will help you rank higher.

But good SEO should not make your content harder for real people to read.

Search engines and AI tools are getting better at understanding helpful content. They are looking for clear answers, useful information, trust signals, and genuine expertise.

So instead of trying to “trick” the algorithm, focus on helping your customers.

Clearly explain what you do, where you work, who you help, what problems you solve, and why people should trust your business.

Add useful FAQs. Share real case studies. Keep your Google Business Profile updated. Collect reviews. Write helpful service pages. Answer the questions your customers are already asking.

If your content is useful for real people, it is far more likely to be useful for search engines too.

✨ Actionable tip: Keep it clear and helpful
Read one page of your website and ask yourself:

Would a real customer quickly understand what we do, where we work, and what they should do next?

If not, simplify it. Humans are who get in touch and use your services, not AI. Make sure you are speaking to them.

🤖 Not sure how search changes could affect your business?

At Digidol, we can review your website, SEO, and local visibility to help make sure your business is clear, useful, and easy to find online.

Out and About with Digidol! 🤝🏼💬

Today I caught up with Dave Jones from UP Coaching to talk through his business growth and the next stage of managing his digital presence.

Dave was one of Digidol’s first clients, and to see UP Coaching grow from an idea into the thriving coaching business it is today has been amazing, especially as both of our businesses have grown and evolved along a similar timeline.

When we first worked together, the goal was to create a professional website that clearly presented Dave’s services and gave him something credible to share with organisations he was approaching. Now, the conversation has shifted. The next stage is about helping the website better reflect the work Dave is doing today, the impact he has on the people and organisations he supports, and the personality that makes UP Coaching what it is.

Dave brings over 35 years of senior leadership and management experience to his work, supporting business owners, managers, teams and leaders through professional coaching, leadership development and practical workshops. His focus is all about helping people create positive change, build confidence, improve performance and move forward with more clarity.

A big part of our conversation was around how business growth and personal growth often go hand in hand, especially for small business owners. Starting a business is one challenge, but growing it sustainably, staying aligned with your values and making sure your digital presence reflects where the business is now is a whole other stage.

One of the things I have always enjoyed about working with Dave is his energy and honesty. His personality is infectious, and with a business like UP Coaching, that personal connection is such an important part of what makes the service so valuable.

It is always a pleasure working with businesses that are built around experience, purpose and a genuine passion for helping others improve.

If you are a business owner, manager or team leader looking for coaching or development support, we can’t recommend Dave at UP Coaching enough.

And if your website no longer reflects where your business is today, Digidol is always happy to have a chat 💬

Tip #030 – Show What Happens Behind the Scenes 🎬

Ever feel like you've run out of things to post about?

You've shared your services, promoted your products, announced your offers, and reminded everyone of your opening hours... now what?

Here's the good news: not every post has to be a sales pitch.

In fact, some of the most engaging content is the stuff your customers never get to see.

They see the finished project, the completed website, the beautifully presented meal, or the final product.

What they don't see are the early starts, the preparation, the mistakes you fixed along the way, and the care that goes into getting everything just right.

That's the kind of content people love.

Behind-the-scenes posts make your business feel more human. They show the passion and effort behind your work, build trust with your audience, and remind people there's a real person behind the brand.

They also make content creation much easier.

Instead of waiting until a project is finished, you can share the journey as it happens, giving your audience plenty of reasons to keep coming back.

✨ Actionable Tip – Pull Back the Curtain

Think about something your customers never usually see.

Maybe it's setting up for the day, unpacking new stock, preparing an order, visiting a client, or simply a typical day in your business.

Capture it with a quick photo, short video, or story.

You don't always need to show the finished result, sometimes the journey is just as interesting.

👀 Running out of content ideas? At Digidol, we help businesses turn the work they're already doing into engaging social media content that keeps their audience interested and their business front of mind.

Tip #029 – Think about what your customers are searching for 🔍

One of the biggest SEO mistakes businesses make is writing for themselves instead of their customers.

When you're an expert in your field, it's easy to fill your website with industry jargon and polished marketing copy. But that's not usually how people search online.

People search with real questions.

They type things like "How much does a bike service cost?", "Emergency plumber near me", "Best campsite in Mid Wales" or "How do I claim business rates relief?"

Every one of those searches is an opportunity for your business to provide the answer.

Before creating your next webpage or blog, ask yourself:

"What would my customer actually type into Google?"

The questions people ask before they buy, book, or enquire are some of the best content ideas you'll ever find. They can become blog posts, FAQs, service pages, videos, or social media content.

Not only does this make your website genuinely more helpful, but it also gives Google a better understanding of what your business offers, helping you appear in more relevant searches.

✨ Actionable Tip – Make a List of Customer Questions

Over the next week, keep track of every question your customers ask.

Whether it's about pricing, timescales, locations, products, or the process, write them down.

Then challenge yourself to answer one of those questions with a blog, FAQ, or social media post. If one customer is asking it, chances are many others are searching for it too.

🔎 Want to know exactly what your customers are searching for? At Digidol, we can research keywords, identify content opportunities, and help create website content that gets found by the people already looking for businesses like yours.

Tip #028 – Use Local Keywords Naturally

You might be the best at what you do...

But if people can't find you online, they'll probably find your competitor instead.

If your business serves a specific town, county, or region, your website needs to make that crystal clear.

Think about how your customers search.

They're rarely looking for just a "plumber" or "website designer." More often, they'll search for things like "plumber in Shrewsbury" or "website designer in Mid Wales".

That's why using local keywords naturally throughout your website is so important. It helps Google understand where you work, making it easier to connect your business with local customers who are actively searching for your services.

If you cover several key areas, it may even be worth creating dedicated location pages. Just make sure they're genuinely useful, not copied and pasted. Include local project examples, testimonials, FAQs, service information, and anything else that's relevant to customers in that area.

✨ Actionable Tip: Check Your Location Signals

Take a look at your homepage, service pages, contact page, project pages, and Google Business Profile.

Would someone instantly know where you're based and which areas you cover?

If not, start weaving those locations into your content naturally. A few well-placed location references can make a real difference to your local visibility.

📍 Want to rank higher in local searches? At Digidol, we can optimise your website and Google Business Profile to help more local customers discover your business when they're searching for the services you offer.

Out and About with Digidol! 🍝🍕

This week we popped by Fabrizio’s Italian Kitchen in Trewern for a quick catch-up with Fabrizio about promoting the business, and a great excuse to enjoy some incredible Italian food.

Fabrizio’s Italian Kitchen is a family-run authentic Italian restaurant that brings together the passion of Roman cuisine with the warmth of Welsh hospitality. From fresh pasta and hand-tossed pizzas to rich sauces, quality ingredients and proper Italian flavours, every visit feels like a real taste of Italy here in Mid Wales.

As twice winners of Wales’ Best Italian Restaurant, I think that tells you everything you need to know about the quality, consistency and experience that Fabrizio, Maria and the team continue to deliver.

We have worked with Fabrizio’s since 2023, starting with a full website refresh to better reflect the move to the new venue, showcase their incredible food and make the booking process clearer for customers. Since then, it has always been a pleasure catching up and chatting through ideas to help promote the restaurant online.

One of the things I have always loved about working with Fabrizio and Maria, besides the excuse to eat outstanding Italian food and call it “work”, is how welcoming they are.

Whether you are visiting as a customer or working with them behind the scenes, their passion for the restaurant and their commitment to creating high-quality, authentic Italian food is clear to see.

It was also great to hear more about their new breakfast offering, giving people even more opportunities to enjoy Fabrizio’s earlier in the day, alongside their lunch and dinner menus.

If you are local, or visiting Mid Wales, Fabrizio’s Italian Kitchen is well worth booking. Great food, a warm welcome and a proper Italian dining experience that we are so lucky to have just outside of Welshpool 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇮🇹
