returns to Control Freak with ‘We Used to Speak the Same Language’ - a 4 track collection of primal techno.

Lean, destructive, and emotionally exposed, the EP represents an evolution that has developed through a series of captivating and uncompromising live sets. Fusing psychedelic techno and experimental sound design, these tracks channel a cathartic energy that cements the artist’s vision of the dancefloor as a space for collective ritual, release, and confrontation.

It is also a pleasure to welcome and to the label - repurposing the title track for the transition from peak time to early hours with their marching, modern-minimal take.

As 2025 draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to look back on the 6th year of Control Freak.

Huge thanks all the listeners, DJs, producers and artists we’ve worked with this year - with new music from our very own Faulter , , , , & b._mcqueen, alongside label showcases hosted with the .ldn and crews. Big love as always to for continuing to shape the visual world of the label.

While it was a slightly quieter year for new music from us, we’ve had more fun than ever playing out together this year - from our very own parties at .ldn to , , .ldn, .bath.house.hw +++

We’re ready to take that momentum forward with lots already lined up for 2026 — new releases from familiar faces, brand new friends, and a couple of international debuts on the horizon. We’re kicking it off with one last CF DJ set at our beloved .studios in January. See you next year 🌀

Happy remix day!

Back in April, launched his new alias Faulter with Obstinacy, breaking away from his previous UK-rooted productions and leaning towards deeper shades of psychedelic techno and electro.

Today we have four new interpretations of the originals for four dancefloor moods, courtesy of , , and the mysterious ._mcqueen.

Go check ‘em out x

Jen Hartley aka rounds off our forthcoming remix collection with a zonked-out Squarepusher-inspired spin on Data Spike - her ‘Swamp-pusher Mix’.

As uncompromising in the studio as she is in the booth, this is another entry into her unwaveringly high-quality and original production output, which includes recent releases on , , and her own .

A special thanks to Bear for all his help behind the scenes.

A longstanding member of the CF family, has remained one of the UK’s most exciting producer’s and recent exports - having just embarked on his first Asia tour. We’re thrilled to have had him turn in a rework of the title track Obstinacy, which you may have caught on ’s recent NTS show.

Blending his signature organic rhythms and warm bassweight, this minimal-leaning ‘Space Carnival Mix’ has been a staple in our DJ sets of late.

T-minus 1 week till our new remix collection hits the digital racks.

Next up on remix duties, its the mysterious ._mcqueen, who’s put her own spin on ‘Zaf’ - flipping the dubby stabs and vocal chops of the original into a rolling, minimal tech house slammer that packs a serious punch.

Already seen this one popping up in the clubs - it might sound familiar to anyone who came to our last party at .ldn 👀

is a hugely influential figure in the development of the Control Freak sound - so its a genuine pinch-me moment to be able to feature a remix of his on Faulter’s forthcoming remix EP Obstinacy: Reworked.

His Perspectives remix is available in full now on CF Bandcamp / streaming. This one is a real trip - clocking in at a hefty 8 mins of slow-mo, gnarly dub techno.

Already endorsed by your (and our!) favourite DJ & lots more 👀

CTRLFRK003 - OUT 05/06/2020

Kicking off the new decade, Control Freak co-founder Customer Service makes his production debut with five tracks of adventurous outsider electronics. On the A-side, ‘Dance First, Think Later’ is a bass-heavy dancefloor destroyer guaranteed to send the club west. Its followed with the ethereal sound design and off-kilter rhythms of ‘Recalcitrance’. On the flip, ‘Betty’s Audition’ takes the pace down a notch with rolling, hypnotic drum programming and plenty of low end punch, whilst ‘B1SM’ deploys a skeletal breakbeat - one for the early hours. Rounding things off, ‘Exquisite Corpse’ locks into a rigid 4/4 groove combining acid with delicate, textured pads.
