Pakyong District Observes National Fish Farmers Day

Pakyong, July 10: The Fisheries Department, Pakyong District, observed National Fish Farmers Day under the theme “Honouring Farmers, Strengthening Fisheries, Nourishing the Nation” at Rurban Complex, Pakyong, today.

The programme aimed to honour the contributions of fish farmers and promote the sustainable growth of the fisheries and aquaculture sector.

The programme was graced by Additional Political Secretary, to HCM, Mr Bishal Sharma as the Chief Guest. During his address, he congratulated the Fisheries Department for organising the programme and appreciated the efforts of fish farmers and entrepreneurs in strengthening the fisheries sector. He also lauded the participation of students and highlighted the importance of creating awareness among the younger generation about the fisheries sector as a career option.

He emphasised the importance of agriculture and allied sectors in ensuring sustainable livelihoods and generating employment opportunities. He encouraged the dissemination of awareness on agricultural and fisheries sectors and urged the farmers to make utilise the various government schemes and subsidies available for the development of the aquaculture and fisheries sectors in the state.

Additonally, District Fisheries Development Officer, Ms Gauri Mukhia highlighted the significance of National Fish Farmers’ Day, commemorating the successful achievement of induced breeding in Indian major carps by renowned scientists, further emphasising that the occasion is also dedicated to recognise the contributions of fish farmers and entrepreneurs.

She apprised on the initiatives undertaken by the department to promote sustainable fisheries and improve the livelihoods of fish farmers and stressed on the nutritional and health benefits of fish consumption.

Furthermore, she also elaborated on the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and informed the participants about the various subsidies, financial assistance and insurance schemes available under the scheme to support the growth of the aquaculture sector and enhance the economic well-being of fish farmers.

A technical session on “Ornamental Fish Farming: Breeding and Culture” was also conducted by Senior Scientist, CIFRI Guwahati Centre, Dr Niti Sharma, who also demonstrated the proper setup and maintenance of aquariums.

During the event, a fisheries-themed quiz competition for students was also held, followed by the distribution of ornamental fish to participating schools and experience-sharing session was conducted by progressive fish farmer Mr LD Dulal, who shared his journey into successful fish farming practices.

The day concluded with the felicitation of progressive fish farmers, entrepreneurs and students for their contributions and achievements in the fisheries sector.

Also present were Senior Scientists, CIFRI,
Dr Shyamal Chandra Sukla Das and Dr Diwakar Bhakra; officials from Fisheries Department, along with teachers and students from various schools.

Under the direction of Hon’ble Chief Minister and MLA of 19 Rhenock Constituency, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), the Constituency-Level 80th Independence Day Celebration 2026 will be held at Mamring School, Taza Amba GPU, on 15th August 2026.

To ensure the successful celebration, an important coordination meeting with the line departments of Pakyong District will be held on 12th July 2026 at 11:00 AM at Mamring School, Taza Amba GPU.

The meeting will be graced by the presence of the Pakyong District Collector. Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Smt. Dr. Subhadra Dangal has appealed to all concerned to attend the meeting and extend their full cooperation for the successful celebration of the 80th Independence Day.

RHENOCK: In a major political update, Mr. Govind Lamachanay (Biswakarma) and Mr. Ganga Ram Bhattarai from the Rhenock constituency have been officially appointed to the district-level Chalak Wing of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party. Mr. Lamachanay has taken charge as Coordinator IV, while Mr. Bhattarai will serve as Coordinator II for Pakyong District.The public of Rhenock expressed their heartfelt gratitude to SKM Party President and Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, for trusting and elevating dedicated youth from the constituency to these crucial district leadership roles. The entire Rhenock public has extended its warmest congratulations and a grand welcome to both the newly appointed leaders, wishing them success in their new responsibilities.

"मामरिङमा ८०औँ स्वतन्त्रता दिवस भव्य रूपमा मनाउन तयारी बैठक सम्पन्न, समिति गठन"

रिनाक निर्वाचन क्षेत्र अन्तर्गत मामरिङ उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालयमा क्षेत्रस्तरीय ८०औँ (80th) स्वतन्त्रता दिवस व्यवस्थापन सम्बन्धी प्रथम बैठक भव्यताका साथ सम्पन्न भएको छ। उक्त गरिमामय कार्यक्रमको सभापतित्व चिठ्ठा विभागका ओ.एस.डी. (OSD) श्री सन्तोष प्रधानले गर्नुभएको थियो। बैठकमा आगामी स्वतन्त्रता दिवसलाई ऐतिहासिक र भव्य रूपमा मनाउने विषयमा गहन छलफल र विचार-विमर्श गरियो।

यस महत्त्वपूर्ण बैठकमा सिक्किम क्रान्तिकारी मोर्चा (एस.के.एम.) पार्टीका उच्च पदाधिकारीगण, युवा सङ्गठन, नारी सङ्गठन, सी.एल.सी. (CLC), बी.एल.सी. (BLC) तथा डब्ल्यु.एल.सी. (WLC) का पदाधिकारीहरूको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो। यसका साथै जिल्ला पञ्चायत, ग्राम पञ्चायत, स्वयं सहायता समूह (SHG) का सदस्यहरू, पार्टीका समस्त कार्यकर्ताहरू, विभिन्न विद्यालयका प्रधानाध्यापकहरू र स्थानीय जनसमुदायको बाक्लो उपस्थिति रहेको थियो।

बैठक अवधिभर उपस्थित सम्पूर्ण महानुभावहरूले कार्यक्रमलाई सफल बनाउन आ-आफ्नो महत्त्वपूर्ण विचार र रचनात्मक सुझावहरू राख्नुभएको थियो। व्यापक छलफल पश्चात् आगामी स्वतन्त्रता दिवसलाई भव्यताका साथ पालन गर्ने सर्वसम्मत निर्णय गरियो। कार्यक्रमलाई सुचारु रूपमा सञ्चालन गर्नका लागि एक विशेष व्यवस्थापन समितिको समेत गठन गरिएको छ।

बैठकले आगामी १२ जुलाई २०२६ का दिन अर्को दोस्रो बैठक बस्ने निर्णय गरेको छ। आज गठन गरिएको उक्त उत्सव व्यवस्थापन समितिको आधिकारिक नामावली आगामी १२ जुलाईको बैठकपछि यसै मिडियामार्फत सार्वजनिक गरिने जानकारी गराइएको छ।

"खातीवडा परिवार शोकाकुल अवस्थामा"
अत्यन्त दुःखद् हृदयका साथ हामी यो सूचित गर्दछौँ कि नाथाङ-माचोङ निर्वाचन क्षेत्र अन्तर्गत कार्तोक ब्लक, याकते वार्ड निवासी आदरणीय पदम कुमारी खातीवडा ज्यूको आज मिति ९ जुलाई २०२६, बिहान ६:१४ बजे ७५ वर्षको उमेरमा दुःखद् निधन भएको छ। सन् १९५० अगस्ट १७ तारिखका दिन जन्मनुहुने उहाँको पार्थिव शरीर हाल खातीवडा परिसरमा शोकाकुल अवस्थामा राखिएको छ।
उहाँको अन्तिम यात्रा आजै १०:३० बजे जलिपुल (Jalipool) स्थित घाट तर्फ प्रस्थान हुनेछ। अतः सम्पूर्ण इष्टमित्र, आफन्तजन तथा शुभचिन्तकहरूमा दिवंगत आत्माको चिरशान्तिको कामना गर्दै
