UPDATE 🚨: JKUAT Student, Digital Creator Derrick Omollo Dies in Juja Following Alleged Robbery Attack

Tragedy struck the Juja student community and other content creators following the death of Derrick Omollo, a JKUAT student and digital creator in circumstances that remain unclear and are yet to be officially confirmed.

According to accounts circulating online, Omollo was among a group of five students who had visited an area near Ndarugu Motel when they were reportedly confronted by a gang of armed thugs allegedly targeting students' phones.

Preliminary reports suggest Omollo attempted to flee the scene during the confrontation and fell into a quarry, where he died. However, other versions making rounds online claim the attackers demanded his phone and turned violent after he allegedly refused to surrender it.

Conflicting Accounts Fuel Online Debate. The exact sequence of events has not been independently verified, and conflicting narratives have sparked heated debate on social media. A section of the public has questioned the accounts given by the friends who were with Omollo at the time of the incident, with some casting doubt on their version of events altogether.

A heartbreaking video from a court session last year has resurfaced, showing a 32-year-old man desperately pleading with a judge to sentence him to life in prison.

“Mimi nifungeni tu maisha, juu mkiniachilia nitajitupa kwa bahari!”

The man told the court that all he wanted was food and a place to survive, saying he was ready to work for the country while serving his sentence in prison.

He reportedly said he had no wife after his marriage ended in divorce and his former wife moved on and remarried. The visibly distressed man further threatened to throw himself into the ocean and take his own life if he was released.

“Watu wanapitia mengi huku nje, surely.” 💔

Behind the viral moment is a painful reminder that many people may be silently struggling with loneliness, hopelessness and the harsh realities of life.

UPDATE 🚨: FORMER DP RIGATHI GACHAGUA MAKES EXPLOSIVE ALLEGATIONS OVER REPORTED ABDUCTION OF STANDARD MEDIA EDITOR ALEX KIPROTICH YESTERDAY NIGHT.

Former Deputy President H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH has launched a scathing attack on Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja following the reported abduction of Standard Media Group Associate Editor Alex Kiprotich.

In a strongly worded statement, Gachagua questioned the National Police Service's promise to conduct investigations into the incident, alleging that the purported investigation would not succeed because, according to him, the alleged abduction was carried out by officers operating outside the IG's command.

Gachagua went further to make a series of serious and unverified allegations against senior government and security officials, claiming that Alex was allegedly targeted because he was preparing an investigative exposé concerning compensation for Mau Forest evictees.

He alleged that the journalist was investigating claims that compensation funds meant for members of the Kipsigis community had been misappropriated through an alleged network involving government officials and brokers.

The former Deputy President further claimed that senior government officials allegedly ordered Alex to be placed under surveillance before his reported abduction. He also made allegations involving senior police and DCI officials, claims that have not been independently verified.

Gachagua also linked the incident to several previous cases of violence and alleged abductions, accusing the police of failing to properly investigate incidents including the death of Rachel Wandeto and attacks on churches in different parts of the country.

“Before you order investigations into the abduction of Alex, kindly first release the findings of the previous investigations you ordered,” Gachagua said.

He concluded by questioning the independence of the police investigations and making further allegations regarding accountability within the security sector.

The allegations contained in Gachagua's statement are his own claims and have not been independently verified. The government, National Police Service and officials mentioned in the statement would need to respond to the allegations.

The footage has sparked concern over the growing insecurity facing pedestrians in the city, with some questioning whether it is becoming increasingly dangerous to simply walk through parts of Nairobi.

BREAKING 🚨💔: MISSING MOTHER OF TWO FOUND DEAD, BODY BEARING ALLEGED SIGNS OF TORTURE

A mother of two, Nancy Akinyi Koiya from Chemase Location, who had been reported missing days ago, has been found dead.

According to reports, her husband, Kiplagat Koiya, raised the alarm after Nancy failed to return home. She was reportedly operating a small hotel at Kibigori Junction.

Her body was later discovered dumped along the Chemelil–Miwani Road, reportedly bearing injuries and signs of torture.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and investigations are expected to establish what happened to her and identify those responsible.

A heartbreaking development for her family, especially the two children she leaves behind. 💔😭

UPDATE: NATIONAL POLICE SERVICE (NPS) DISTANCES ITSELF FROM VIRAL REPORTS ON “SUSPECTED ABDUCTORS” OF STANDARD GROUP EDITOR ALEX KIPROTICH

The National Police Service (NPS) has reportedly distanced itself from claims circulating online that the alleged abductors of Standard Group Associate Editor Alex Kiprotich had been captured along the Gilgil–Nakuru Road.

The reports circulated as Kiprotich’s alleged abduction sparked widespread concern, with footage of armed and masked men reportedly forcing him out of his vehicle also emerging online.

Kiprotich was later found safe near Masinga Dam, hours after Standard Group reported that he had been abducted while travelling to Nakuru.

The NPS says investigators will pursue those behind the incident, including identifying the armed individuals captured on camera and establishing the circumstances surrounding the reported abduction.

Investigations into the incident are expected to continue as authorities work to establish the identity of those involved.
