The Canadian Charity, Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation (KBNF) in collaboration with the John F. Kennedy Memorial Medical Center is pleased to announce its November 2022 Neurosurgical Outreach.

A team of doctors ,nurses and physical therapists involved in Neurological Surgery from Canada, USA, Ghana, Nigeria and Liberia will manage and treat: brain tumors, spine/spinal cord (back) illnesses, hydrocephalus (water in the head), spinal bifida (knot on the back), severe and persistent headaches, late onset seizures, late onset of weakness of the hands and feet, carpal tunnel syndrome
(pain in the wrist), spinal cord injury, neck pain, encephalocele (knot on the head) etc

Pre-screening is currently ongoing at JFK in Monrovia on Mondays and Fridays.
Screening ends on October 28,2022.

All surgeries will be free but patients will be responsible for all clinical Investigations (labs, pathology and imaging) .

LNP Warns Rice Smugglers and Hoarders; Makes More Arrest of Profiteerers

It has come to the attention of the Liberia National Police that some rice dealers, are in the constant habit of hiding the commodity with intent of increasing price while some are smuggling it across to neighboring countries for higher prices.

Such action is causing serious inconveniences to the Government and its citizens and residents.

In view of this, the LNP immediately activated officers across the country to effect arrest of perpetrators of said ugly act.

Since the activations of police officers across the nation, there have been several arrests made in various parts of the country on pending charges of economic sabotage, profiteering and cheating and defrauding government.

To date, the following individuals/vendors/ business persons were arrested, pending various charges:

1. Mr. Ahmad Saksouk (Labanese Businessman) was arrested in Dupo road with 62 bags of 25kg Star rice at sale price of 30 USD;

2. Mr. Skymilay Dorbor was arrested at Gobachop junction selling government PRO-POOR RICE out of a blue truck marked H0889. Mr. Dorbor was selling a bag of 25kg Pro Poor rice 20 USD;

3. Mr. Mamadu Jalloh was arrested at Omega with 27 bags of 25kg Star rice sold at 30 USD;

4. Madam Garmai Roberts was arrested in Paynesville with 14 bags of 25kg Star rice sold at $30 USD;

5. Madan Ma-Bee of Ganta city Nimba county was arrested with 199 bags of 25kg Star rice sold at 30 USD;

6. Madam Marvina Doe of New Kru Town was arrested with 160 bags of 25kg Star rice sold at 5,500 LD;

7. Madam Omu Bah of West point was arrested with 22 bags of 25kg Star rice sold at 5000 LD;

8. Madam Sata Weasley was arrested in West Point with unspecified number of bags of 25kg rice sold at $30 USD.

As a result of tip off from Commerce Inspectors, Joint Security forces were successful in confiscating two trucks of rice at Loguatuo border in Nimba County.

The length of each of the trucks is about a 40ft container, with an estimate of over 2,500 bags of 25kg rice contained in both trucks.

Currently the rice is being guarded by LNP tactical unit pending transports to Monrovia by the Ministry of Commerce.

In awake of unfolding developments, the Inspector General of Police, Hon. Patrick Toe Sudue further reiterates calls to all business individuals, vendors and distributors that until government can change the prices of rice, any arbitrary increase in price for profiteering will be termed as illegal.

Members of the public are also urged to assist the LNP with any useful information leading to the arrest of individuals in the habit of hiding, increasing the price or smuggling rice to neighboring countries for profiteering.

Le nouveau Président du Tabital Pulaku International Lamido Sanuuzi Le nouveau Président du Tabital Pulaku International Lamido Zanuuzi Qui est Lamido Sanusi qui vient d'être élu président de Tabital Pulaaku International ?

Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II est né en tant que Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) dans le clan Fulani Torobe (Sullubawa) de Kano le 31 juillet
1961. Il est le petit-fils de Sir Muhammadu Sunusi, le 11ème Emir de Kano, du clan Sullubawa des Fulani Torobe. Il est le directeur de Muhammad Lamido Sanusi, un diplomate et technocrate de carrière, qui a servi comme ambassadeur nigérian en Belgique, en Chine et au Canada, qui a plus t**d été le secrétaire permanent du ministère fédéral des Affaires étrangères.

Contexte éducatif.

Sanusi a fait ses études primaires à l'école primaire catholique St. Anne, Kakuri, Kaduna entre les années 1967-1972, où il a obtenu son premier certificat de fin d'études. Lamido Sanusi a fait ses études secondaires au King's College Lagos, où il a obtenu son diplôme en 1977. Il a été admis à l'université Ahmadu Bello (ABU) de Zaria, où il a obtenu un baccalauréat en économie en 1981. Il a poursuivi ses études Économie à l'Université Ahmadu Bello en 1983, et est devenu un instructeur de 1983 à 1985. Sanusi a également étudié à l'Université internationale de l'Afrique, Khartoum, au Soudan, où il a obtenu un diplôme en droit islamique. Sanusi a été affecté à l'état de Gongola (maintenant les États d'Adamawa et de Taraba) où il a eu son service obligatoire du National Youth Service Co**se (NYSC).

Carrière.

En 1985, Sanusi a été embauché par la Merchant Bankers Limited, une filiale de Morgan Guaranty Trust Bank de New York aux États-Unis, et Baring Brothers of London. Il a ensuite rejoint la Banque unie pour l'Afrique en 1997, travaillant à la Division Crédit et Gestion des Risques, avant de devenir Directeur Général. En septembre 2005, il devient l'un des membres du conseil d'administration de la First Bank of Nigeria et un directeur exécutif en charge du contrôle des risques et de la gestion. Il a été nommé Directeur Général du Groupe en janvier 2009. Presque au même moment, Sanusi était également Président de Kakawa Discount House, où il a siégé au Conseil d'Administration de FBN Bank (UK) Limited.

Sanusi était la première personne du nord du Nigeria a être nommée PDG dans l'histoire de First Bank au Nigeria.

Le 1er juin 2009, sous le régime du président Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, Sanusi a été nommé gouverneur de la Banque centrale du Nigeria et confirmé par le Sénat nigérian le 3 juin 2009 au plus fort de la crise financière mondiale.

Emir de Kano.

Le 8 juin 2014, Sanusi a été choisi pour succéder à son grand-oncle Ado Bayero en tant qu'Emir de Kano. Beaucoup de gens s'attendaient à l'émir d'Ado Bayero, ce qui a conduit les partisans de Bayero à manifester avec colère contre la nomination de Sanusi. Le 9 juin 2014, il a officiellement été couronné Emir Muhammadu Sunusi II, faisant de lui le 14ème émir de Kano et le chef de l'ordre soufi Tijaniyya, un poste qui est historiquement la deuxième position musulmane la plus importante au Nigeria après le Sultan de Sokoto qui est le chef de l'ordre soufi Qadiriyya. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi est marié à Hajia Sadiya, la fille de son oncle et feu Emir Ado Bayero (le prédécesseur de Sanusi) et Hajia Maryam et ils ont un total de huit enfants.

Origine et histoire

L'origine du noyau humain autour duquel s'est formée l'« ethnie » peule est vraisemblablement à chercher chez les « pasteurs à bovidés » du Sahara préhistorique, dont l'aspect et le genre de vie, tels qu'ils apparaissent dans les peintures rupestres du Tassili, évoquent étonnamment ceux des Peuls nomades d'aujourd'hui. Une longue période sépare les premières mentions des Peuls dans l'histoire de ces « proto-Peuls » (qui ont pu aussi être à l'origine de certains pasteurs de l'Est africain), puisque ces fresques remonteraient aux VIe-IIe millénaires avant notre ère et que les Peuls apparaissent aux XIVe-XVe siècles dans les Chroniques de Kano et dans Makrizi. Malgré l'absence de documents, il semble que leur « ethnie » se soit constituée au cours du haut Moyen Âge, dans la vallée du Sénégal et les régions adjacentes de l'Est et du Nord-Est, par apports berbères et surtout noirs à cette souche originelle. C'est en tout cas de ces derniers que provient, dans ses structures essentielles, la langue peule, qui appartient incontestablement au même ensemble que le wolof et le serer-sin, actuellement parlés dans la République du Sénégal.

À partir du XVe siècle, les sources, plus nombreuses, indiquent une extension des Peuls vers le sud et surtout vers l'est, dans des conditions au reste mal connues mais certainement liées à la fois aux vicissitudes politiques internes et externes et à la quête de pâturages. Dès le XVIIe siècle, ces migrations amenèrent les Peuls à occuper une bonne partie de leur habitat actuel, mais sans y exercer en général la prééminence politique. Les deux siècles suivants au contraire virent se constituer à leur profit plusieurs États importants, en Guinée (XVIIIe s.), au Mali et surtout au Nigeria-Cameroun (XIXe s.) ; États qui, vaincus et soumis par la conquête européenne, n'en devaient pas moins subsister à des degrés divers pendant la période coloniale et parfois au-delà.

L'islam, qui était présent dans certaines communautés peules dès le XIVe siècle au moins, constitua le moteur de ces transferts de forces entre les Peuls et leurs voisins, transferts qui résultèrent de « guerres saintes » menées à l'appel de personnages religieux, Karamoko Alfa en Guinée, Ousmân Foduye (Osman dan Fodio) au Nigeria, Sêkou Ahmadou et El Hadj Omar au Mali, contre les suzerains musulmans déclarés « infidèles » ou des chefs et des populations non peuls (voire parfois peuls) demeurés animistes. Il en résulta à la fois une extension de l'islam et de nouveaux établissements peuls, notamment en Guinée, dans la partie moyenne du Nigeria et au Cameroun. Parallèlement, l'accession au contrôle de terres considérables et à la domination sur un grand nombre de non-Peuls assujettis ou capturés lors de razzias accéléra le métissage et la sédentarisation des vainqueurs qui, sans cesser d'être éleveurs, abandonnèrent la vie nomade, pratiquée aujourd'hui par une minorité, et se livrèrent aussi, par l'intermédiaire de leurs captifs, aux activités agricoles.

AME UNIVERSITY POSTPONES EXAMS
TO ALLOW MUSLIM STUDENTS CELEBRATE END OF RAMADAN:

The Administration of the African Methodist Episcopal University has postponed the midterm exams previously scheduled to begin on May 2. Given that the date is very likely to coincide with the Eid celebrations, the University administration has rescheduled the exams to now begin on the 3rd of May. This decision is in response to a communication from the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Ali Krayee, who pleaded with the AMEU authorities to reconsider the date in keeping with the institution's record of promoting religious tolerance. Attached is Rev. Dr. Alvin Attah's letter to the Imam.

Recently, the Superintendent of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), Hon. Isaac Saye-Lakpoh Zawolo, mandated all schools within the System to close on May 2 to allow Muslim students celebrate the end of Ramadan and allow Muslim girls wear the hijab in school during the Holy Month. The National Chief Imam and the entire leadership of the National Imam Council of Liberia, on behalf of Liberian Muslims, applaud these positive steps towards fostering national unity and peaceful coexistence.

It is hoped that the Ministry of Education, which, together with WAEC, rescheduled exams for sixth graders last year due to the Eid of Sacrifice, will take a holistic decision so that Muslim students throughout the country will join their colleagues in Monrovia. Together, we can build a great and lovely country.

FFUSOL ISLAMIC QUIZZING COMPETITION QUALIFICATION ROUND

The Alhaji Bella Diallo Educational Forum (ABDEF) is pleased to inform you about her RAMADAN Islamic Quizzing Competition. This competition will include 4 teams of 4 people per team (16 people in total) and will be held at FFUSOL Head Office.
You can submit your response to the following questions below to qualify for the competition.

ORDER OF THE COMPETITION
ROUND 1: Interested individuals will submit their response to this form and wait for qualification. The qualification will be based on a higher score and only 16 people can qualify(8 female and 8 male)
ROUND 2: A raffle draw will be made among the 16 people to draw 4 teams of 4 people per team(Team A, B, C, D). each team will include 2 males and 2 females. Team A will play against team C while team (B) will play against Team (D). The winner of both matches will play the final to determine the champion of the competition.
Competition prizes include
1st Place winner = Certificate + Price
2nd Place winner = Certificate + Price
3rd Place winner = Certificate
4th Place winner = Certificate

Competition Qualification criteria :

1. Participants must be between the age of 10 to 25 to take this quiz.
2. Participant must be willing to attend the final round of this competition.
3. Participant must be residing in Liberia (Monrovia or able to come to Monrovia for the competition)
4. Each individual is only allowed to submit their response once. ( Any duplicate submissions will be automatically disqualified).
5. There are (20) questions to be answer and each question carry a total points of 5 making it 100 points in total.
