On March 8, 2026, the Baliwag Maritime Academy (BMA) achieved a historic milestone as it participated for the first time in the Local Annual and General Tactical Inspection (LAGTI). The inspection brought together members of the Philippine Naval Inspection Team and the academyโs administration, demonstrating BMAโs commitment in maintaining high standards in maritime education, institutional management, and operational readiness. The event also strengthened the academyโs coordination and compliance with established naval inspection and evaluation procedures.
The LAGTI Inspection Team led by the Commandant of Philippine Naval Reserve Center National Capital Region Commander Anecito Lumantas PN (GSC) and CPO Ariel Bathan PN. , together with Lieutenant Commander Villanueva, Head of the LAGTI Inspection Team conducted the official visit. The delegation also included Chief Masteral Arm Jimenez, Seaman First Class Cordero, Seaman First Class Belotindos, and Seaman Second Class De Vera. They were formally received by the BMA Administration headed by School Director Capt. Maximo Pestano and Quality Management Representative Ms. Ma. Concepcion C. Ong, along with the BMA Corps and Staff , marking the commencement of the inspection activities at the academy.
An opening meeting between the Philippine Navy Representatives and the BMA Administration was held first then the Arrival Honors Ceremony at 0840H welcoming the guest of honor and the members of the LAGTI Inspection Team. The ceremony highlighted the academyโs respect and recognition for the distinguished guests prior to the conduct of the inspection. Afterwards, the LAGTI inspection officially commenced, initiating the scheduled assessment and evaluation of the academyโs facilities, programs, and compliance with established training and institutional standards.
The conduct of the Local Annual and General Tactical Inspection (LAGTI) highlighted its vital role not only in institutional evaluation but also in the academic development and formation of midshipmen at Baliwag Maritime Academy.
More than a routine inspection, the activity served as a significant milestone in the professional growth and discipline of future maritime officers, providing valuable knowledge, guidance, and standards essential to their training. It also fostered stronger collaboration, reinforcing a shared commitment to continuous improvement, excellence in maritime education, and the development of competent and responsible seafarers.
