The station chief of the Digos City Police in Davao del Sur is now a person of interest in connection with the shooting and killing of a barangay captain while live-streaming on Facebook. According to the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11), Digos City Police Station acting chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Peter Glenn Ipong has been removed from his post while he is being investigated in connection with the death of Barangay Tres de Mayo captain Oscar "Dodong" Bucol Jr. PRO11, under the command of director Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, stated that Ipong was ordered to step down to ensure a fair investigation. He further directed the Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office, under the leadership of Police Colonel Leo T. Ajero, the Provincial Director, to conduct a thorough and comprehensive probe, which may take one to six months depending on the complexity of the case.
Rosete even went to Bucol's house and conducted an ocular inspection to examine the crime scene and validate the initial findings. The official also went to the hill where the deceased barangay captain was buried to offer condolences and speak with the victim's father. In RGil Relator's report on GMA News "24 Oras" this Thursday, it was stated that Ipong was among those who had a disagreement with Bucol during his livestream. The report also added that 20 police officers were also subjected to a paraffin test.
