SMC’s Ang offers to clean waterways, solve flooding in Metro Manila

Tycoon and San Miguel Corp. president and CEO Ramon Ang has volunteered to help solve the flooding problem in Metro Manila at no cost to the government or the Filipino people. Ang attended a press conference with Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chair Don Artes and several Metro Manila mayors on Friday, August 8, at the San Miguel head office in Pasig City. He proposed that waste clogging waterways and structures, such as houses built along rivers, be removed to block water flow towards drains and creeks. “We will do the cleaning, but without your authorization, we can’t proceed,” he said in Filipino. Sen. B**g Go files bill to include financial literacy and entrepreneurship in curriculum

Senator B**g Go has filed Senate Bill 672 to institutionalize financial literacy and entrepreneurship as core subjects in junior and senior high school. The bill aims to improve students' understanding of economic principles and entrepreneurial practices, combat poverty and unemployment, and foster sustainable development. Go cited a 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report showing that 46% of Filipinos had a positive view of entrepreneurial opportunities. The bill will amend Republic Act 10679, or the Youth Entrepreneurship Act, to broaden its coverage and integrate it into the education system. It also mandates the Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to promote entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs in higher education and technical-vocational institutions.
