For many of us, there was no blueprint for how to live.

Marcus talks about growing up in Native communities, inner cities, and communities of color where addiction, incarceration, and generational trauma can leave entire families living in survival mode.

But we get to decide what we carry forward.

We can learn from good people, build healthier connections, take the lessons that helped us, and choose what we want to teach the next generation.

We may not have been given the rubric but we can help create one. ❤️

The Air Force core values were ingrained in Scottie Owens from day one of basic training.

But something else was there from day one, too: alcohol.

Drinking became a regular part of his military experience and, over time, something much more serious.
