Species: “Eastern Black Walnut”

Black walnut trees are valuable due to the high quality, beauty, and durability of their wood, which is in high demand for furniture, cabinetry, and other woodworking projects. Their slow growth and relatively limited availability also contribute to their high market value.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. High-Quality Wood:

* Aesthetics:Black walnut wood is known for its rich, dark color and beautiful grain patterns, making it highly desirable for high-end furniture, cabinetry, and other decorative applications.
* Durability and Strength:The wood is hard, strong, and durable, making it suitable for items that need to withstand wear and tear.
* Working Properties:Black walnut wood is relatively easy to work with using tools and finishes well, making it a favorite among woodworkers.
* Stability:It holds its shape well after seasoning and is less prone to shrinking or swelling compared to some other hardwoods.
2. Limited Availability and Slow Growth:

* Rarity:Black walnut trees are not as common as some other hardwood species, contributing to their higher value.
* Slow Growth:It takes a long time for black walnut trees to mature and produce lumber suitable for commercial use, typically 50 to 100 years.
* Harvesting Challenges:They have a deep taproot, and their size and location can make harvesting them more difficult and costly.
3. Other Factors:
* High Demand:The demand for black walnut wood in various industries, including furniture, cabinetry, and gunstocks, drives up its price.
* Market Value:The specific value of a black walnut tree depends on factors like its size, quality, and location, as well as current market conditions according to MK Timber.
* Specialty Uses:Crotches, burls, and unusual grain patterns found in black walnut are highly sought after for veneers and other decorative elements.

Species: “Black Locust”

- Fluorescent is a color name we use to describe hues that are vibrant and saturated. . Fluorescent colors reflect more light and even appear to glow from within. Fluorescent colors are derived from a phenomenon in nature called “fluorescence.” Fluorescence is the radiation of light from a material that has absorbed light and then emits it at a lower energy or lower wavelength. This resulting light emission gives fluorescent materials a glowing effect.

- True fluorescent color is visible in ultraviolet and with visible light, But will always fluoresce under UV light. This means that UV light excites the energy in the molecules and results in a more vivid color.

- While there are several other species/varieties of trees that fluoresce in several different colors when exposed to uv light, Black locust has been known to be one of the best examples for its vivid yellow/green hue.

- Black Locust has most of its use in history within old shipbuilding construction, old porch construction, outbuildings, traditional fence posts, & flooring to name a few, with some early dated projects still in use today. On the inside of a home You can also see this species show up on shelving displays in the form of old vases & whittled knick knacks mostly.

- in the videos I used a 7.5 watt led uv light bulb in a drop light extension cord to fluoresce the wood. (Nothing fancy)

- Sunlight charges the illumination and dictates the hue intensity.

- In one of the videos I expanded to show eastern black walnut slabs next to the black locust slabs.. you can get a good perspective of judgment of the intensity through the video by paying attention to the walnut having no u.v. Light reaction

- Ok, great.. so what can you do with a species of wood that is dense enough to be used as a weapon successfully, takes forever to rot.. and it glows when exposed to u.v. lighting that is charged through sunlight all while being 100% naturally organic? Hhhmmmm.

- ready for use in 2026
