The WeMasterTrade trading competition has officially ended today.
It was a 15-day tournament where traders from around the world competed to achieve the highest returns while staying within strict risk-management rules. The top performers were ranked for a $100,000 funded simulated account.
The rules were straightforward but demanding: traders could not lose more than $5,000 in a single day or more than $10,000 throughout the entire competition. In addition, your most profitable day could not account for more than 20% of your total profit, ensuring that rankings rewarded consistency rather than one lucky trading day.
WeMasterTrade has now announced the 50 top-ranked traders, and an incredible six of them are from Ethiopia. Even more impressive, three Ethiopian traders finished in the top seven globally.
This tells us something important: a globally competitive trading community is emerging in Ethiopia.
Economic hardship, limited opportunities, and the search for alternative sources of income are pushing a new generation of Ethiopians to learn financial markets and compete on a global stage. Seeing six Ethiopians among the world's top 50 traders—and three in the global top seven—is genuinely inspiring.
Congratulations to all of them. 🇪🇹👏
And let's not forget the scale of this achievement: they competed against more than 112,000 traders globally.
One final point: realistic trading is not about turning $500 into $100,000 overnight. Realistic professional trading is about managing risk and consistently growing capital—for example, generating 10–25% returns on a $100,000 account while protecting the account and maintaining discipline.
This is the kind of trading culture we should be encouraging in Ethiopia: skill, discipline, consistency and long-term thinking.
