‼️ Subaru Update! 🚗

I finally picked up the Subaru and so far…

things are looking MUCH better. 🙌

For those who missed the saga, what started as a P0300 code, sputtering, hesitation, and loss of power turned into a bit of an adventure. I even ordered the wrong coils the first time (thanks, Amazon 😅), which added an unexpected expense to an already tight budget.

The good news? The new valve cover gaskets, plugs and coils seem to have done the trick….. so far as I can tell. 🙏

The car is accelerating much better, the sputtering appears to be gone, and one thing I noticed immediately is that it’s idling much lower and smoother than before.

I’ve only driven it a short distance so far, so the real test will be getting it out on the freeway and putting some delivery miles on it over the next few days. But for the first time in a while, I’m feeling cautiously optimistic.🎉

Considering all the worst-case scenarios running through my head, I’ll happily take a repair bill over needing an engine. 😅

I’ll give a final update on this chapter Monday after I’ve spent the next three days delivering and putting it through its paces. Praying there is absolutely nothing to report before then! 😂🙏

🥄 Reseller Win of the Day!

I have a reseller friend, Tallgirl Picker, who loves selling flatware. I’ve had a bag of assorted flatware sitting around forever, but honestly I kept putting it off because I didn’t know much about identifying patterns or listing it correctly.

After watching some of her content, I finally decided it was time to stop procrastinating and learn something new.

Well, today I sold my first pieces of everyday flatware! 🎉

I’ve sold vintage Bakelite-handled flatware before and I’ve sold Cutco knives, but this is the first time I’ve sold a regular set of flatware like this.

It’s a good reminder that sometimes inventory sits because it feels intimidating or unfamiliar… not because it won’t sell.

Now I’m wondering…

What’s something you’ve been putting off listing because you don’t know enough about it yet?

Sometimes the biggest hurdle isn’t the item, it’s just taking the time to learn something new. 😊

🚗 Car Update…

Well, what I was afraid might happen… happened.

To save some money, I ordered my own parts from Amazon. I entered my vehicle information to make sure they were supposed to fit, and before taking the car to the shop, I even stopped by and asked the service advisor if the mechanic could verify that I had the correct parts.

I explained that I didn’t want them tearing the car apart only to discover the parts were wrong. He told me they couldn’t really go by a picture of the part, so I asked if they could at least check the part numbers. The answer was basically the same.

Sure enough, they called yesterday with bad news.

The ignition coils weren’t the right coils… even though Amazon said they would fit. 🤦🏻‍♀️

To make matters more interesting, I had purchased all the parts using Affirm because cash is pretty tight right now. Since I need the rest of my available credit to cover the actual repair bill, I ended up having to pay cash for another set of coils.

The good news is the correct ones are out for delivery today. The bad news is it’s getting pretty late, and since they still haven’t arrived, it’s looking like tomorrow morning before I can take them to the shop.

That also means another Uber ride and another day of waiting.

At this point, all I can do is laugh, shake my head, and remind myself that sometimes “saving money” ends up costing a little more than planned. 😅

Hopefully tomorrow is finally the day the Subaru gets put back together and back on the road running like a champ! 🙏

Wish me luck… I seem to be getting a lot of practice rolling with the punches lately. 🚙❤️

One of these wrists is not like the other… 😳

And before anyone comments on my funny-looking hands… yes, I know. 🦥😂

I had the basal joints removed from both thumbs because of arthritis a few years ago, and one side didn’t heal quite the way it was supposed to. So we’re not talking about the hands today—we’re talking about the wrist.

Six and a half weeks ago, I managed to break both bones in my left wrist doing something incredibly dangerous…👀

Getting into my car. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I rolled my ankle, fell sideways, and the wrist lost the battle. These 63 year old bones aren’t as tough as they used to be!

Now when I look at them side by side, it’s hard to believe they’re supposed to match. The wrist that was broken still looks swollen and misshapen, it’s weaker than I’d like, and certain movements definitely remind me that it’s not fully healed yet.

The frustrating part? I’m the type who wants to bounce back immediately. My body keeps reminding me that healing has its own timeline.

For those of you who’ve broken a wrist, arm, ankle, or any major bone…

How long did it take before it felt “normal” again?

Did the swelling and weird shape eventually go away, or did it stay different permanently?

I’d love to hear your experiences because right now I’m trying to be patient… and patience has never exactly been my superpower. 😂

🚗 Car Update Time…

The Subaru went in for surgery this morning. 🎉

I’m having the valve cover gaskets replaced, along with the ignition coils, and we’re probably putting in fresh spark plugs too. I just replaced the plugs last Thursday, but since the leaking valve cover gaskets may have contaminated them, I’d rather be safe than sorry.

The good news? If this fixes what we think it’s fixing, I should see my gas mileage climb back up into the 28–30 MPG range instead of the 15–20 MPG I’ve been fighting lately as well as the loss of power and sputtering. For someone who depends on deliveries and gig work, that’s a pretty big deal.

The bad news? Cash flow is tight, and dropping a big repair bill all at once just isn’t in the cards right now. My credit cards are tapped out, but thankfully the shop accepts Affirm, so that’s how I’m making it happen.

And before anyone chirps off, no, I’m not promoting debt or saying financing repairs is a great financial strategy. Trust me, I’d much rather pay cash. But sometimes when you’re robbing Peter to pay Paul and Peter is broke while Paul is demanding payment, you do what you have to do to keep moving forward.💯

The reality is that after the move to Colorado, my monthly expenses are going to drop significantly, which will free up cash to tackle a lot of things that have been hanging over my head. Right now, the priority is simple: keep the car running. 🚙

Without the car, the reselling, the deliveries, and the income all get a whole lot harder.

I’ll be spending the day listing inventory while I wait for the call that she’s ready to come home.

Today I got a reminder that sometimes we’re so busy trying to make a living that we forget we’re dealing with people.

I delivered a grocery order to a retirement home this morning. The sweet lady was frustrated because the app had apparently ordered things she didn’t want, and she wanted to go through every item. I’ll be honest… my first thought was that I was losing money because I was spending so much time on one delivery.

Then she said, “Just hold on a minute. It’ll be worth your while.”

Without thinking, I said, “No it won’t, but I’m here to help.”

She smiled and said, “Don’t ever say that.”

As we unpacked the groceries, I showed her what was in the app, put everything where she wanted it, and helped her get settled. She reminded me so much of my mom.

When we were done, she handed me a $20 bill and said she couldn’t get the tip to work in the app. Then she told me she hoped God would bless me for being kind.

The $20 was appreciated, but honestly, that wasn’t the biggest gift.

The biggest gift was the reminder that not every interaction is about speed, productivity, or dollars per hour.

Sometimes people just need a little patience.
Sometimes they need a little help.
Sometimes they just need someone to slow down long enough to see them.

And every now and then, God gives you exactly the lesson you needed that day. ❤️
