DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN TAKE A SHELTER DOG ON A MINI-ADVENTURE AROUND AUSTIN? 🐶

We just found our new favorite was to volunteer and give back to the community and PSA it involves adorable dogs! Austin Animal Services offers a Doggie Day Out where you can treat a shelter pup to a fun field trip around town doing whatever activity you choose!

MEET OUR DAY OUT PAL: MISTY
We spent our Doggie Day Out with Misty, and she is truly a gem! She is an incredibly sweet Husky mix who loves curling up right in your lap, rolling around in soft blankets, and playing with leaves! Interested in this gorgeous girl? Check her out on their site with her ID #29826!

HOW IT WORKS?
The program is super easy! Drop by on Wednesday or Saturday between 11-1pm to pick up your pal, and have a blast. Just be back before 6pm! When you arrive, the staff will help match you with a dog based on what you want to do. Have an active outdoor day or just a cozy afternoon snuggling on the couch, they’ll select the perfect companion for your outing!

And there’s no advance reservations or application process required!

WHAT’S PROVIDED?
The shelter equips you with everything you need for a smooth trip, including treats, drinking water, a portable water bowl & waste bags. Plus, an info card on your dog to share with anyone you meet who might be looking to adopt!

These short outings give shelter dogs a much-needed mental break, reduce stress, and let their real personalities shine outside of a kennel setting, which helps them find forever homes. So tag someone who needs a doggie day date!

AUSTIN’S FREE, TRAILSIDE PROJECTION ART EXPERIENCE IS RETURNS TO AUSTIN ON SEPTEMBER 25-26 🎨✨

Mark your calendars because WaterWork will once again transform one of Austin’s most iconic waterfront landmarks into a massive canvas of art, light, and motion for TWO nights only! On September 25 & 26, Design Austin and the The Trail Conservancy for a night of free art at the historic Seaholm Intake Facility!

WATCH IMMERSIVE ART UNDER THE STARS

🎨 Watch the Seaholm Intake Facility completely transform using state-of-the-art projection mapping technology, which you can watch right from the shores of Lady Bird Lake.

✨ See captivating works from 22 talented Central Texas artists come to life under the stars.

🌆 The artwork for this years show is inspired by the relationship between Austin’s bustling cityscape and the natural spaces that make our city so special.

🌊 Be sure to get there early to grab a spot! You can watch the show from land OR make a night of it and watch from the water by kayak, paddle board, or other personal watercraft!

💡 Pro Tip: some of the best views on land are along the banks of Auditorium Shores or off the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge!

THERE’S A REASON THIS NEIGHBORHOOD BAR & CLUB HAS BECOME A CLARKSVILLE STAPLE… 🍸🪩

The corner of 6th and Blanco has quickly become a fast favorite with Austinites for the iconic restaurants and bars that call it home! And Howards Bar is no different! This chill disco club is a go-to for the neighborhood for bar bites, drinks & a good time!

HOW TO DO HOWARD’S

🪩 There truly is not a bad time to go to Howards! From cozying up in the booths for some post work drinks to dancing the night away under the disco ball, it’s hopping at all hours!

🍸 And they have delicious bar bites & cocktails to fuel the evening! We always grab a classic martini, an order of fries and the crispy cheese curds with jalapeño ranch!

🎧 DJs are on deck every Thursday, Friday and Saturday going on at 9 and spinning until midnight!

🍔 Plus, if you swing by on Monday’s you can snag their delicious smash burger for 1/2 price! That’s right it’s 2-for-1 burgers all night long!

🥃 However, regular happy hours runs 3-5pm on Monday through Fridays for 1/2 off hotdogs, drafts & espresso martinis!

HOWARDS
Housed inside the Mission Revival Style building, this corner spot has been an active storefront since its beginning in 1925. Formerly a concept called Wiggy’s that closed after 46 years, it was reimagined a few years after its closure, as Howards Bar and Rosie’s W**e Bar (located directly behind)! It’s a great spot to experience two distinctly different bars that are both top tier for vibes!
