🚨 Baltimore County’s Pattern — and a Warning We Can’t Ignore 🚨

From the treatment of Black leaders to the silencing of community voices, Baltimore County has a long, troubling record. Now, with redistricting on the table and two majority-Black districts in play, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

History shows us — if we’re not vigilant, we can lose ground fast. This is a call to pay attention, organize, and act. 🗳️✊🏾

🕊 Honoring Laurel Cemetery — On Sept. 13, 2025, Baltimore will hold a ceremony & historical marker unveiling for Laurel Cemetery, the city’s first non-denominational African American cemetery (1852–1958).

This sacred ground was the final resting place for thousands — including 230 Black Civil War veterans, civic leaders, and families from across the city. A powerful moment to remember and preserve our history.

🎉 BMORENews Turns 23! 🎉
Since August 9, 2002, we’ve been telling our truth when others wouldn’t — celebrating our victories, remembering our struggles, and honoring our legends without apology.

We’re marking this milestone at The Basketball Legends of Baltimore at Madison Square (The Dome). This is home. This is history. And we’re giving back — bring canned goods for the Bea Gaddy Foundation to help feed Baltimore families.

BMORENews was born out of a simple belief: if you get out there and try, someone might see you and help you. But you’ll never know if you never try.

Here’s to 23 years of informing, inspiring, and empowering our community — and to many more. 🙏🏽

Support Black Media. Support Black Business.

While I have pushed voting in our community for 26 years, I have even more faith in our business owners, their businesses, and the power therein. With some $1.5 trillion in annual disposable income in Black America, there is no reason why we cannot harness that buying power and better target more of our dollars on our businesses. We don’t have to be in love with each other. We don’t even have to like each other. However, if a brother or sister is hiring other Black people - legally, then that alone is more than enough reason to support them. Remember Tulsa and Rosewood. And remember all of the other Black Wall Street communities across America. For it is on their shoulders that we stand. As long as we keep God first and work together, nothing can stop us ... including COVID-19. As an “Unapologetically Black” journalist committed to telling the truth, I have learned that tough times are nothing new to Black business owners. History tells us that not only did we survive worse, but we prospered as well. As we near the 100th anniversary (May 31-June 1, 2021) of the destruction of Tulsa’s Black Wall Street, it is my personal goal to double-down on our efforts to promote this fascinating history. I believe that as we become increasingly business-minded and more entrepreneurial, we better position ourselves and empower ourselves to meet any and all challenges in the future. I think if we just keep God first, we can do anything but fail. #bmorenews #harlembusinessjournal #blackwallstreet #nationalblackwallstreetfoundation
