It is with great sadness that we are announcing the temporary closure of the Barre Area Senior Center.
__

In light of the current health crisis, We have made a decision solely based on the best interest and welfare of our members and staff.

Although we implement daily cleaning and disinfecting procedures and have been confident that our facility has been germ free, we recognize that our business focuses solely on those that would be affected most which are the elderly population and those with compromised health.

We have had no issues arise at BASC, we are simply being proactive in protecting all those associated with our facility.

We will be closing at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17 and remain closed until the end of March at which time we will re-evaluate the situation. All scheduled events for the month of March have been cancelled.

Our cleaning procedures have been effective in allowing BASC to be a safe haven for our members to come and enjoy and be “worry free” so making this precautionary decision ahead of other closings in the area has been quite difficult.

Again, Our main concern at BASC is the welfare of our members and staff.

We will update our page (Barre Area Senior Center), our website (barreseniors.org) and send emails to our members periodically with any new information. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

Stay safe, stay knowledgeable and we will see you in the very near future.

One week ago we had an absolutely terrific night welcoming the candidates for the Democratic nomination for Vermont's sole U.S. Representative.

We're so grateful to Central Vermont Television on Charter Cable 192 & 194 for being there that night to film it.

The MisAdventures Of Lucille: Type Casting (Full Story Below)

All Throughout My Show Business Career I Longed For Starring Roles. I Wanted So Much To Be Cast As The Good Girl Or The Girl Next Door But I Quickly Learned That I’d Be Cast According To My Type & From What I’ve Been Told, I Look Like Anything BUT The “All American Good Girl Next Door”.

When I Auditioned For the Broadway Musical Annie, The Director Would Bring Me All The Way Through The Audition Process, Call Back, After Call Back Until I Was So Damn Close To The Role Of “Annie” That I Could Taste It. Where It Was Down To Me & One Or Two Other girls & He Was Having Us Sing Tomorrow & Maybe All The Way Through And Not Just A Few Bars As Was The Case When There We’re More Girls Singing Toward the start Of The Auditions. But Each Time Martin Charnin Said “I Know You Could Do This & I’ve Tried To Rethink It But I Just Don’t Think I Can Ever Pass You Off As A Pail Skinned Red Headed Irish Girl. In The End The Role He Cast Me In Was “Pepper” Aka The Mean Orphanage Bully. Go Figure.

On Other Auditions, ie The Sound Of Music, Etc , I Was Told That I Was “Too Puerto Rican Looking” Lol. Whatever That Means. For Other Roles I Was Rejected & Told I Was “Too Ethnic Looking”. Even In High School, After Barry Died When I Had Come Back To School In My Home Town & They Did A Production Of The Musical “Grease”. I Wanted More Than Anything To Be Cast As “Sandy”, As I’d Loved That Role Since I Was A Little Girl but When The Cast Was Announced, It Wasn’t My Name On The Roster To Play “Sandy”& I Was So Upset. I Scanned Down The List To See If They Cast Me As Someone Else, and lo and behold, There Was My Name, Cast As Rizzo 😒. Although I Love The Part Of Rizzo, Again It Was The Tough Girl & The Bully. In A School Production Of “Oklahoma”, I Tried For The Part Of The Main Female Lead Love Interest But Was Cast As “Adolph Annie” The Quick Witted Run Around Sue Who’s Main Calling Card Was A Cheerful Number Called “I’m Just A Girl Who Cant Say No”! Again! Cast As The Hooker/Prostitute/Easy Girl Role! WTH! So I Always Identified Most With The Soft Spoken Graceful Flower Like Female Role, But Told I Looked More Like The Hard Ass Silver Tongued Hoochie Mama Bully With A Bug Up Her Ass For The Main Character In Almost Every Single Thing I Did. Even When I had The Awesome Experience Of Playing Danny Devito & Rhea Perlmans Daughter In His Directorial Debut Following His Role On Taxi, Even Then I Was Cast. The Scene I Was In Was Supposed To Be Based On The Premise That The Character Was A Crooked Street Guy Running For Office Who’s Trying To Pass Himself Off As A Nice Normal Guy During His Campaign. The Scene Is Supposed To Be The Filming Of His Campaign Commercial Where He Needs To Appear To Be A Family man but things Go Ary When His Misbehaved Kids Act Up During The Filming, Take After Take The Director screams “Cut” & By The End, Everyone Is Fighting & The Commercial Cant Be Done. So I Was The Drugged Out Misbehaving Daughter. The character goes on to actually rent The Perfect All American Blond Hair, Blue Eyed Family and Present Them As His Own. Again, I Was The “Bad Girl”

And Then Came The Peanuts. I can’t say I don’t like any of the peanuts Characters and I Do Love The character Of Lucy Van Pelt But She’s So Mean, Just like all my other roles and the funny part is that in my every day like, At First Glance, People Size Me Up That Way too. For Some Reason, I’m always assumed to be the exact opposite of what I am. Now if I could say who my heart is most like Of Those Characters, I’d Probably Be Charlie Brown Because Of The Peanut Butter And The Loneliness (Lol) Or Maybe I’d Be Linus. But If I Had To Be A Girl Character Only, I’d Pick Sally Because She’s Nice To Everyone. As fun as Playing Lucy Was, Inside I related more to Sally.

Truth Be Told Though, If Going For Accuracy In Terms Of Which Character Is Actually The Most LIKE me As A Whole, None Of The Above Would Come Into Play.

My Theory Is That We All Have A Peanuts Character Inside Of Us. Not One That We Would Necessarily Choose For Ourselves Or Even Admit To Others, But The One That Really Fits Us Best.

That character for me needs no name or introduction, you know him mostly by the mess that seems to follow him everywhere he goes But I’ve Taken The Liberty Of Tweaking His Name To Most Fit Me. Take A Look.
