When you love dogs, the years with them can go by fast, and Boomer’s life has been a very big reminder of that. I’ve been trying to say yes to more of the little things that make them happy. The extra hike. The swim. The slightly crazy and ridiculous surprise 🐻‍❄️🍦

National Make A Dog’s Day, a holiday created by our friends at Subaru of America, is coming up soon, and this one feels especially close to my heart with Boomer. He’s given me so many of my best days and getting to make one feel extra special for him (and Diya) means more than I can really put into words. It’s also an incredible coincidence that this is year 8 of NMADD and as many years as Boomer has been here to celebrate! 🥰

When the scariest symptom is actually a blessing in disguise 🫶🏽

I’m so sorry, I know this is tough to watch but I think it’s important to share in case it can help another family. I don’t think our medical team thought cancer could present this way and if we had just treated it as just IBD I know that Boomer would not be here today.

It’s always worth pushing for extra testing and following your gut instinct and please get pet insurance, we’ve maxed ours out for what will be 3 years now which means it will be $30k saved in his medical care 🥺

After 6 months, Boomer has his CT scan again this week and I’m so nervous but staying hopeful to find out what it tells us. If you are going through a cancer journey with your pup, know that you are not alone ❤️‍🩹

We really didn’t want to come back to reality after staying at Skyridge Glamping - the glass walls that brought in nature with a cozy and comfortable space inside was truly incredible and just what my nervous system needed to reset 🏔️🥹

So often on social media, we see trips that look perfect and beautiful. And while ours really was awe-inspiring, there were stressful and upsetting moments too, and I wanted to share that side of it 🫶🏽

There were definitely some character-building moments (I’ll always triple-check an Airbnb listing now 😭) This summer was particularly challenging for my health, and I dropped the ball on things I’d normally plan carefully. I felt awful when it felt like all of us had to pay for that in some way.

Boomer wasn’t tolerating long car rides well, while seeing almost anything required us to drive a lot every day. The trip ended up looking very different from the one I had pictured in my head. But sometimes that’s just the reality of traveling, and life.

And somehow, those aren’t the moments I’ll carry with me 🥺

I’ll remember Boomer and Diya running around and playing. Sitting on a rock with Boomer, looking out over the lake for a long time, feeling emotional and overwhelmingly lucky that I still get to do this with him. Dan making my birthday feel so incredibly special even though I was sick. And all the little moments in between ❤️

It wasn’t the perfect trip I imagined, but I’m so grateful we got to cross this off my bucket list and I got to do it with Boomie by my side!
