In this episode of the Metal Command Podcast, I sit down with Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth for an in-depth conversation covering music, history, current events, and the return of Jon Schaffer's Sons of Liberty

We discuss the newly updated version of the Sons of Liberty album, the inspiration behind the project, and why American history continues to be such an important theme in Jon's work. We also talk about the Founding Fathers, constitutional principles, historical lessons that still matter today, and Jon's perspective on the events of January 6th and the years that followed.

From a personal standpoint this is an interview that was very important to me. I consider myself an American. I don't consider myself a left wing Democrat, or a Right-wing Republican. The message behind the Sons of Liberty album is all about the dire situation our country is in and the obstacles that all of us (We the People) are facing today regardless of whatever political leanings we have, what led to all of this and what the future may hold.

Going up sometime tomorrow. I brought Jon Schaffer on to talk about the upcoming Jon Schaffer's Sons of Liberty album. We had a pretty in depth conversation about quite a bit. In fact this is one of the best interviews I have ever done.

Iced Earth has always been a band I have loved for a long time and Jon was one of the people in the very beginning that really inspired me to do this show for over 28 years.

We had a pretty deep discussion about our country's history and how it's been corrupted over the last few decades.

Happy Killdozer day! 22 years ago Marv Heemeyer told the government goons who screwed him over in a small town in Colorado to go f**k themselves in one of the most epic ways you ever possibly could.

Easily the best song written about this is a song called “Power of the Powerless” by the band War Curse off of their 2023 album “Confession”. I actually consider this one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.

If you have never watched the documentary called “tread” watch it. It’s easily the best documentary about everything that happened to make this guy go absolutely bat s**t crazy.
