It's new blog post time!

"As Lady of All the Things, Inanna is absolutely delighted at all the different and diverse ways that Her modern devotees have found to worship Her throughout recent decades. There is no right or wrong way to build a devotional practice to Inanna."

In this constellated model of ministry, the idea of spiritual support concentrated on a particular leader in a particular place or organization is replaced by an interconnected web of support across a wide network of community resources. Instead, we have a network of priests, priestesses, ministers, officiants, healers, etc. each working within their own areas of expertise derived from their own specific traditions and experiences.

I’m so excited to be presenting at Ishtarfest again this year! This year I’m trying something a little bit different. Instead of infodumping at you for an hour, I thought I’d use my spot to have everyone engage in a guided discussion of one of our favorite ancient hymns, using it as a center point to share about our practices and experiences and build sacred community.

It’s time for another preview of Ishtarfest 2026!

Raising Our Voices for the Goddess

This session is part literary discussion, part sacred community building. We will begin by reading the well-loved hymn “The Exaltation of Inanna” by the high priestess Enheduanna, on which we will center a guided conversation discussing our personal spiritual practices and relationship with Inanna, ancient and modern traditions, and pagan community. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and practices as we read the hymn, then share their thoughts with the group during a guided discussion. Some topics to consider include: How do you personally relate this hymn to your spiritual practice and relationship with Inanna, your daily life, and/or current world events? Does your spiritual practice affect how you show up in your community? What does the text say about spiritual devotion, community, and resilience? This session is your opportunity to be seen and heard authentically in a safe and welcoming environment, learn from others’ diverse experiences and perspectives, and build connections to foster a supportive and resilient community.

Rev. Jennifer “Nya” Wilber

Rev. Jennifer “Nya” Wilber is an ordained priestess and long-time devotee of Inanna from Cleveland, OH. She first encountered Inanna in her early teens, and went deeper into her spiritual practice while Inanna helped guide her back from the “underworld” experience of her breast cancer diagnosis in 2022. She has since dedicated herself to serving the goddess through her personal worship practice, environmental stewardship, and ministry to the pagan community. Nya’s ministry work is rooted in fostering connection between the divine, nature, and our own magickal inner potential. For more information on Nya and her ministry work, follow her online! The Star represents hope, spiritual renewal, and healing. It is the card that I most associate with Inanna, who reappeared in my life at the time when I was most in need of those qualities. She appears at dusk as the Evening Star, a guiding light through the darkness. She appears again at dawn to celebrate the triumph of the sun, a returning of the light of hope.

In this deck, the Star of Inanna Tarot, The Star shows Inanna depicted as the Morning Star, ascending from the underworld, reborn anew with the dawn.

It’s time for today’s daily tarot pull!

10 of Swords
(Deck: Crow Tarot by MJ Cullinane)

I’m going to be honest, I almost wanted to redraw this one. It seems kinda negative to be posting on my feed. But I aim for authenticity, and bad experiences and painful endings can often be transmuted into something that better serves you. So here goes:

A crow lays broken and near death on barren ground. He has been betrayed by someone he trusted, who has literally stabbed him in the back (and ten times at that!). As his consciousness slowly fades, he feels relief that his suffering will soon be over and he will be at peace. He feels gratitude that his pain won’t be for nothing. His body will return to the earth, and in time be transformed into fertile soil that will nurture new plant growth. In time a new forest will emerge, providing shelter and sustenance to the crow’s descendants.

Endings suck, especially when they are the result of betrayal. But acceptance of the situation is the first step to healing. Learn from your pain, and when you are ready, transform that pain into something beautiful.

(A lot of times my readings trigger a song to get stuck in my head. This time it’s “Closing Time” by Semisonic. “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”)

Here’s a behind the scenes look at one of my in-progress paintings. I always wanted a pink painting in the style of Starry Night, so I decided to paint my own. In keeping with the main theme of my artwork, I set this painting in ancient Mesopotamia and used a Ziggurat instead of the tower in Van Gogh’s original. I still can’t decide what I want to do with the Ziggurat. I’ll probably redo the whole building.
