Grief is always there.. even in the happiest of times.

My brother and dad were not rule followers.
During my High School graduation they made several announcements not to clap or yell when each name is called and to hold your aplaudes to the end.
My brother didn’t give an f about that… and after they called my name stood up and belted out;
“LET’S GO JUSTINNNNNNNNN!”
I can still hear his chaotic voice bouncing off those gymnasium walls to this day.

Maybe I’ll recreate it for my son’s HS graduation…

The myth that you CAN fully control your thoughts perpetuates a ton of shame for many with OCD.
And can prevent them from getting help because they simply feel like “a bad person”.
If you feel this way, know things can get much better and you are definitely not alone.

A pattern I’ve witnessed far too often.
Imagine a world where men were more inclined to seek help and collaboration… the harm that would be reduced for EVERYONE.
It’s sometimes hard to see the ways we have been socialized but it is a very important reflection.
