OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Ted Bond Benefit Comp Released to Raise Funds for Medical Expenses

May 2, 2025 Ted Bond, the lead singer for Craig's Brother has been diagnosed with a form of lymphoma. Ted helps support his wife and three children as a musician, children’s math tutor, real estate agent and associate pastor at a small church, which are not the types of jobs that provide significant medical benefits. In order to support him, Simpul Records and Thumper Punk Records have teamed up to release the Ted Bond Benefit Compilation, an acoustic album featuring original new songs from 29 artists to raise funds for Ted’s medical expenses. Featuring tracks from Adam Nigh, 6'10, Seth Anderson, Zippy Josh & The Rag Tag Band, Reliance, Jimmy Sinn, Steven Neufeld, Kid.Catapult, The Blamed, Kevin Shortfuse, Peter118, Sef Idle, and many more. Now available through all commercial digital retailers, the compilation is also available today on Bandcamp Friday, so all funds will go directly to Ted.

After getting the green light from Ted and later Adam, I reached out to Sef Idle to see if he would like to participate in the Ted Bond Benefit Comp. And what came back was "let's do this together". He would not only provide a song, but also arrange for four artists from his Simpul Records to record tracks in his studio Simpul Studio. He has gone on to master the album, and has been the primary contact for about half of the artists (including Tobin from 6'10", Zippy Josh and the Rag Tag Band, Seth Anderson and many others). Here is a photo of Sef with Craig's Brother taken after they played a show together in Santa Cruz. Album preorder link is below.

When I first learned of Ted's diagnosis, I knew that TPR had to do something to help. Most benefit comps take many months to pull together because bands need time to write, record and mix their songs. Because there is an immediate need, we decided to go with acoustic songs that most people could record at home or practice space. TPR reached out first to bandmate Adam Nigh to gauge his interest, and he provided the ideal song to honor Ted and their friendship.

In Adam's words: "The song is called Your Name Is Jonas because Ted's first name is actually Jonas, and because, you know, Weezer. I wrote it as an ode to Ted in 2001 when Too Bad Eugene was getting ready to record Moonlighting. It didn't make that album, but I've always wanted to use it so when they asked me about this comp it seemed perfect. It still encapsulates how I feel about the man as a songwriter, as a man, and as a friend. Please contribute if you're able"
