Looking for a way to give back to your community without having to run into a burning building?
Good news — we have options. 😎
Porter Hill Fire Department is currently looking for both volunteer firefighters and board members.
Want to ride the truck, learn new skills, fight fire, and help your neighbors on their worst days? We can train you.
Prefer helping keep the department moving in the right direction, supporting fundraising, finances, planning, and making important decisions from a much safer distance from the flames? We need you too.
No experience required. No cape required. Just a willingness to serve.
Two ways to serve. One mission. One community.
If you’ve ever thought, “Somebody should probably help with that…”
Congratulations. You might be somebody.

How cool!

Here’s a photograph of Frank James working on his farm, about 2.5 miles northeast of Fletcher, Oklahoma. The date and photographer are unknown.

It’s fascinating to look at this photo and wonder what must have gone through his mind during those later years. Frank outlived his younger brother Jesse by 33 years, leaving behind the violence and notoriety of their outlaw days for a much quieter life.

Imagine the memories he carried with him while working this Oklahoma soil.
