This is some really sad news. Mark Dwane, who has been a featured artist on Echoes for 35 years, is preparing for his final journey after getting a timeline from Pancreatic cancer. I am so deeply saddened by this.

I was thinking of my very first interview. It was 1974 with the British fusion group, Isotope. Guitarist Gary Boyle led that band, but I was excited, and terrified about the interview because at that time, Soft Machine bassist Hugh Hopper, who I loved, was in the group. I remember telling Hugh that I loved the way he used fuzzrtone on a lot songs. He responded, Do I use a lot of fuzz. I don't think so." At which point I cited several songs, including this one below. And he admitted, "Yes, I guess I do use a lot of fuzz tone." I wish I had that tape!
