ZEINEWS: 911 is experiencing outages

Pennsylvania is experiencing a 911 outage across the entire state, according to an alert from the state's emergency management agency.

PEMA (Pennsylvania Emergancy Management Agency) says this is an IT issue with a third party company contracted through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.

The alert was sent to smartphones of users throughout the state, The alert said in part, "Pennsylvania is experiencing a statewide intermittent 911 outage. Individuals experiencing issues contacting 911 are asked to contact their local 911 Center on their non-Emergency lines." With similar statements being broadcasted on Pennsylvania's EAS Broadcasts.

PEMA said it is working with technical experts to solve the issues and restore service to 911 as fast as possible.

If in need of services the Delaware County Emergency Management Services recommends calling 610-565-6575 only if you are in need of emergency services and if you are unable to get ahold of 911 personnel.

We’ve received reports of strong odors this morning in northern Delaware and we understand the concern. Pennsylvania authorities have informed us that Monroe Energy in Marcus Hook experienced a power loss around 6:15–6:30 a.m., prompting an emergency shutdown of refinery units and visible smoke from the flare. Power has since been restored and the flare stopped smoking around 7:40 a.m. Local fire companies that have been responding in the area have recommended residents with respiratory concerns stay indoors and turn off air conditioners while odors dissipate. We will continue monitoring and share updates as we learn more.

YIN & YANG: While the heat in the east (appropriately) garners all the attention, it's important to showcase the other side of the story. When weather operates at extremes, it's not uncommon to see an equally impressive extreme on the other end of the spectrum. While one side of the country bakes, the Rockies are seeing snow and sub-freezing cold. That's not an everyday occurrence in the month of June.
