There are no small beginnings; for this Black History moment, I honor Matthew A. Cherry, director and 2020 Oscar winner for Best Animated Short Film.
Below you'll see a clip from the first indie dramatic short he directed, called "This Time." I remember his drive to ensure every sound was authentic, which pushed this story forward when we worked on this project more than a decade ago.

it's great to see how his journey led him to win an Oscar for
Best animated short, "Hair Love," years later.
