SEASON 7 FINALE IS HERE! 🎙️

Everyone knows famed Boston Red Sox player David Ortiz as Big Papi.

He made a name for himself in the batter’s box as a designated hitter, winning seven Silver Slugger awards, joining the 500 Home Run Club, and helping the Red Sox break its 86-year World Series drought—and win two more World Series before his retirement in 2016.

But his work didn’t end when he stepped off the field for the final time. Big Papi transformed into a philanthropist and entrepreneur, drawing on his dedication for family, community, and the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴.

His foundation, the David Ortiz Children’s Fund, helps provide critical pediatric services to children in New England and the Dominican Republic. And his latest entrepreneurial venture, Ozama Rum🥃, is crafted entirely in his home country, from sugar cane to bottle.

Mexican flag football star Diana Flores never imagined she’d carry the Olympic Torch—but in 2024, she did just that at Cannes Lions, standing alongside legends like Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, and Shaun White.

“It was such an honor,” she says. “I was representing my country, my community, and my sport on the Olympic stage for the first time.”

Flores, quarterback of Mexico’s world champion flag football team, has earned numerous accolades—from MVP at the 2022 World Games to being featured on Forbes’s 30 Under 30, People en Español’s 25 Más Poderosas, and LiS™: Latinos in Sports. She also made history as offensive coordinator at the 2023 NFL Pro Bowl Games and starred in the Emmy-winning NFL Super Bowl ad “Run With It.”

Now a global ambassador for the NFL and IFAF, and our Leading Latinas cover star, Flores is determined to grow the game and open doors for future generations of girls in sports.

This is a story of a tech leader and his family who risked their lives to make it to the US, and they’ve made their community and their world a better place for it. 🤍

“Tell yourself where you are, where you’re going, and that you’re going to be successful no matter what.” — Bayron Lopez Pineda

Bayron’s journey to Netflix began long before his first job in tech.

His story—fleeing civil war as a child, growing up in LA’s Pico-Union neighborhood, and becoming a mentor and leader in engineering—is one of resilience, sacrifice, and community.

What struck us most? Bayron spent more time building coalitions and giving back than on his actual studies—because mentorship was the mission all along.

Now at Netflix, Bayron’s still living that mission: pouring into others, showing up for the next generation, and reminding us all that success is sweeter when it’s shared.

🚨“ I’m worried that AI is going to destroy the internet.”

That’s how Diego Lastra opens his latest Publisher’s Circle op-ed in Hispanic Executive—and it’s a must-read for anyone thinking critically about the future of content, brand trust, and digital engagement.

As AI-generated posts flood our feeds, Diego raises the alarm on what’s quietly being lost: authenticity. He argues that as bots dominate online spaces and machine-generated language becomes indistinguishable from human voices, digital trust is eroding—and fast.

💡 His take? In a world saturated with algorithmic perfection, it’s imperfection, vulnerability, and *human connection* that will stand out—and win.

From DEA raids to the courtroom, from the Air Force to Meta—José Apolinar Olivera’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary.

As director and associate general counsel at Meta, José leads with conviction, empathy, and hard-won perspective. His story—marked by early trauma, resilience, and an unwavering drive to serve—could rival any Oscar-worthy script.

At thirteen, José’s home was raided by the DEA. By eighteen, he was serving in Iraq. By thirty, he was a federal prosecutor—holding the very title once assigned to those who prosecuted his own father and brother.

Now at Meta, he’s shaping the legal future of AI and digital safety while mentoring the next generation of legal talent.

This is more than a success story. It’s a powerful reminder that lived experience is not a barrier—but a bridge—to leadership.

If life worked differently, the headline might simply read: “Rosanna Lipscomb, visionary legal mind and global regulatory leader at Google, appointed to the Council on Foreign Relations.”

An honor of the highest magnitude for someone who’s already achieved so much—Rosanna is one of the most respected voices at the intersection of tech, law, and global policy. ⚖️

But life doesn’t always follow the cleanest path. Rosanna’s journey is not just one of professional triumph, but also of profound resilience. From nearly signing a contract to teach human rights in Ethiopia after her time in the Peace Corps, to navigating devastating personal loss—she continues to lead with empathy, strength, and vision.
