Happy May Day, comrades! Today we took a field trip to and learned so much about how records are made. The level of care, growth, and expertise these folks put into their labor is inspiring. This is Chicago's own pressing plant, and it feels homegrown and relaxed but they are clearly so dedicated to giving you the best record they possibly can and taking care of you along the way.

We are grateful to have them working downstream from us to help bring your music to the world.

ICYMI, we added a "Studio History" page to our website that's filled with self-aggrandizing lore (and some interesting tidbits about construction and design). We also uploaded just about every fridge note we could find- somewhere along the way it became a tradition for bands to leave these thank-yous for staff. Here are some of our faves!

Happy Cheap Trick Day! The Cheap Tracks Podcast just released an episode they recorded at the studio with our pal Jason Narducy.

For this year’s Cheap Trick Day episode, Mike and I took a detour from the south side to sit down with Jason Narducy of Split Single at Electrical Audio up there in the Avondale neighborhood on the west side of the North Branch Chicago River.

Jason is a veteran of the Chicago music scene who has navigated a career of second acts that has allowed him the opportunities to celebrate his past, such as the return of his childhood punk band (Verböten), while looking forward to new creative endeavors his current band project (Split Single) opens up for him.

Tonight, Jason picks up the bass in the Bob Mould Band to start a tour that lands at Metro Chicago for two nights (4/25-26).

Our transfer suite is alive! This new workspace is a dedicated room for tape transfers that will allow us to offer faster turnaround times and help us take on larger projects.

The room is setup with two Studer A820s, the flagship Studer multitrack tape machine and arguably the GOAT, for 2" and 1" tape, an Ampex ATR-102 for 1-4 track 1/2" and 1/4", and a number of other machines that cover nearly every analog tape format and most of the digital ones.

Getting this room cleared, built up, wired, and put together was a true team effort with the technical conception and refurb and repair work by , the bulk of the wiring built by .san.audio, and the workflow and practicalities ironed out by . helped us hoist these beasts into position. .mac week be joining Tay in the day-to-day transfer operations. Go team.

We are (still) extremely affordable for what you get from our transfer services- the top machines in existence maintained to rigorous standards, the expertise of engineers who work with tape on a daily basis and have developed knowledge necessary for careful and meticulous transfer, and professional diligence that doesn't shortcut steps like calibrating our machines for each and every transfer we do.
