In more than three decades as a proud transgender activist, Jamison Green .jamisongreen has moved from making history to writing it as one of the authors and editors of a new book, “A History of Transgender Medicine in the United States, From Margins to Mainstream” — an important contribution to the discussion during these times of growing intolerance (interviewed by David Hunt).

Belgium’s DJ Mistiek brings out “I Became Me,” a new q***r anthem honoring the trans experience.

And in NewsWrap: the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court rules the laws prohibiting same-gender s*x in Saint Lucia unconstitutional, Cuba’s trans people can now legally change their gender on official government documents without the previously required surgery, close to 100,000 people fill the streets of London to stand for “Existence and Resistance” at the Trans+ Pride March, Berlin’s Christopher Street Day Parade brings out thousands of dancing celebrants, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony is questioned by police as a suspected organizer of the banned LGBTQ Pride Parade, and more international LGBTQ+ news reported this week by Joe Boehnlein and Melanie Keller (produced by Brian DeShazor).

Special Announcement from DJ Skip of Skip’s Polka Music Variety Show that broadcasts on Saturdays at 8 am!

From DJ Skip:

The weekend of this coming August 2nd and 3rd will mark the end of exactly 14 years that I have been hosting my Polka show on Saturday mornings. After several months of thinking and soul-searching, I have decided that my show on Saturday, August 2nd, will be my last one.

I have always enjoyed hosting the show and I will always enjoy the music. But for the last year or so, all of the time I spend in preparation for and the airing of the show is becoming just too much. I could change the way I do things and save myself a whole lot of time. But I like the way I do it and I feel that most listeners like the way I do it too. So I want to exit while I’m on top of the game.

It was a pleasure to meet and get to know many of the students involved with KSPC and also my fellow volunteers from the community. I have made some lasting friendships from amongst them.
