Oh my, sightseers, get a load of this… Our latest episode dropped on YouTube, just in time for the big bang of the 4th!!! This one, however, is unlike anything I’ve done before. In fact, it dives deep into the mind of a mad RV genius bringing you the best kept secrets of a master toilet pumper, a solar power expert, and the king of hitching up trailers all rolled into one. The man who is known simply as Marty. Or should we say, MeanderingMarty! So buckle up Buttercup and get ready. It’s gonna be one helluva show. 🤯💩

What do you think the odds are that my latest SightseeingSally episode will spiral into a viral smash hit? If only I had a crystal ball 🔮 to see into the future. Guess I’ll just have to leave it up to you sightseers to determine my newly released video’s fate.
P.s. What do you think, is Lava Hot Springs one of Idaho’s BEST kept secrets? Or is this place just another boring small town? 👇🏻

Modena, Utah is an old rail town we discovered when driving through Southern Utah. According to Wikipedia, the town was established in 1899 by the Utah and Nevada Railway. Sources state the town was named by an Italian laborer likely after Modena, Italy. HOWEVER, according to Washington County’s Historical Society’s webpage on Modena, Utah, legend claims the town may have been named for how a resident - a Chinese cook - used to call out “Mo’dinna, mo’dinna” during the serving of dinner. Whether that was truly the case or someone’s idea of a joke, nobody really seems to know. What we do know is that Modena was once an important stopping point along the railway providing water for the steam engines & acting as a shipping hub.
Today Modena is considered a living ghost town having around a dozen or so residents living in more modern homes set amongst the vacant buildings. Walking the empty streets you can still see remains of this old western rail town. The historic Lund Company Hotel / General Merchandise Store stands silent beside the tracks as does the railway’s old steel riveted water tank. Stroll down Main Street and you’ll find the Last Chance Saloon now deserted no longer serving cold pop. A seemingly forgotten town where time’s brilliant shadow hasn’t quite faded yet, Modena is the subject of our latest episode *NOW AVAILABLE TO WATCH FREE* on YouTube. 📺 Link below 👇🏻

Hey Sightseers 👉🏻 I’ve been meaning to respond to all of your heartfelt condolences, kind words, cards, and wonderful messages that came as a result of my last post. Each time I think I am ready, I find myself overwhelmed with grief. Mocha was such a huge part of my life for so long, and Marty’s too, that it will take some time to process her crossing the rainbow bridge before I can respond to anyone individually.
Saying goodbye to Mocha has left a huge gap in our hearts. To me, it seems like the end of an era. Mocha was with us when I first started SightseeingSally and was the last of the OG SightseeingSally doggie crew. During her life of 13 years, Mocha got to explore 28 different states and went to more places than any other dog I know! A master at begging, Mocha sure loved her treats 🦴as many of you probably know from some of the posts I’ve shared. A Beagle through and through, Mocha enjoyed tracking whatever came into our yard. She especially enjoyed walks in the woods where she could sniff to her heart’s content.
But that’s not all our baby girl loved. Mocha really loved people and was such a great ambassador of goodwill, especially in her final months. Because of Mocha’s ability to win the hearts of those around her, we have met lots of different people - people we would never have gotten to know if it weren’t for Mocha!
Yes, I know life goes on. There is much to be thankful yet. We still have Lil’ Leo who is ready and willing to step up to fill Mocha’s shoes. We also have all of you sightseers. I know many are probably waiting for our next episode. I am currently editing footage of a forgotten town that we discovered in Utah. Fingers crossed, I will be able to finish it & get it on YouTube later in the week. 🎞️
I want you all to know both Marty and I are extremely grateful for all of you wonderful sightseers. Even if I haven’t personally reached out to you or responded back, please know your thoughts, condolences, and kind words have been greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for being here for us, for the love you’ve shared with us and our baby girl Mocha Beans, and for being so patient as we navigate through this difficult time in our lives!!!
I would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Adam and his staff for helping es**rt Mocha to the rainbow bridge. I would also like to say thank you to Sue, Belle, Mike, and Tater for helping keep Mocha’s treat jar filled. Lastly I would like to thank Jack Picardy for his help in remembering the best of Mocha for the group SightseeingSally and the Sightseers.

In an unexpected turn of events our baby girl, Mocha Beans, has been diagnosed with liver cancer. She is not doing well. If she makes it through the night, tomorrow with the help of our vet we will be es**rting her to the rainbow bridge.

Buh-bye!!! Here, let me hold the door, lest it hit ya in the a$$ on your way out. 😘

Yes, I’m being cheeky. But, please explain this to me: WHY you think I don’t deserve to earn money for this gig?! I built this career out of nothing, started at ground zero with no subscribers, no followers, no insider knowledge or help. I had NO experience whatsoever. I never even owned my own business, wasn’t familiar with social media, and certainly didn’t know anything about filming. 8 years, 4 months, 17 days and 458+ videos later I think I’ve paid my dues. I’ve put in more hours than I can count, spent more money & put on more miles than you can possibly imagine - all for the freedom of being self employed! When my family & friends are hanging out having a good time, I am usually working - working on these videos that you all can watch free on YouTube. I pay social security and taxes to our government (news flash, they consider what I am doing to be work!). Yet, people still have the gall to insinuate that I don’t deserve to get paid for what I do?? Let’s see you start with nothing and get to where I am - over 9.5 MILLION views with nearly 42.5k subscribers!!!
Maybe when the tax man stops knocking at my door with his hand out looking for a piece of the action, maybe then can you say I don’t deserve to get paid. Until then, I think you best hold your tongue. I’ve got boots. They are made for walking. And they will definitely walk all over you. 💃🏼

Um, there’s a very good chance that instead of finishing final edits on this week’s episode I was getting my soak on. Oopsie!!!🤭
What if I said I was actually filming? Would that cancel things out, maybe?
And yes, this week’s episode is coming soon. Stay tuned…💃🏼

Did you know that Parowan means “evil water”? Originally called “The Little Salt Lake,” its early settlers decided to rename the town after the Paiute word meaning evil water. Why they did, I do not know. However, I can assure you after spending 3 days exploring this small desert town hidden by the mountains that there is nothing to fear here. In fact, Utah’s “Mother of the Southwest” is an AMAZING place full of fascinating history and incredible sights to see!!!

In our latest SightseeingSally episode, we explore this historic town while sharing stories of Parowan’s most notable characters including one salacious tale involving a U.S. Marshal and a local man who lost his life. Oh, and did I mention the dead man who got sentenced to three days in jail?!

I highly recommend checking out Parowan next time you are in the area. It is a cool little town, the locals are genuinely friendly, and they reportedly are home to some of the best cinnamon rolls around! Note: I personally cannot vouch for the cinnamon rolls. We had every intention of picking some up but then during the course of our visit they slipped off our radar. That’s Sally speak for I forgot. Oops!🤦🏼‍♀️

Some of Parowan’s must see stops include:

📍Old Rock Church Museum
📍Valentine Peak
📍Parowan’s Visitor Center
📍The Rusty Bucket
📍Parowan Cemetery
📍Heritage Park

You can see these sites (and more!) should you watch our video on YouTube. 📺 P.s. It is FREE and available to watch NOW 💃🏼
