The internet has been blowing up over the past day or so with news around , a metal artist that can often be seen on tour with Seventh Day Slumber. We had the opportunity to interview her and her siblings back when they played in a band together called Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh - a "beauty core" band as it were. At the time, one of my go to interview questions I liked to ask bands was "if your music was a cocktail, what would it be?" I'll never forget their answer: "Shrimp cocktail because we're too young to drink." I remember feeling so bad at the time because I thought I left a weird impression or maybe accidentally endorsed underage drinking. But they gave me an entertaining answer! Years later when I joined the booking team, Maggie was very kind to record a shout out video for the festival the year she performed.

I have always rooted for the underdog in the music scene and this artist is definitely one of those. Few are doing what she's doing. So, to find out that churches are treating her unprofessionally because of "appearance" touched a nerve. I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said about that situation by several news outlets (I'm happy she's getting coverage but sad it took this story to make that happen) but wanted to share a quick memory and mention we're definitely going to be paying closer attention to her art going forward! -Ryan G
